  1. It doesn't look like it competes with the Trace Elliot and the like for size, and presume its still IEC powered, so I don't see any point unless its silly cheap, which I can't imagine it will be.
  2. There was a time when Darkglass innovated and shook the market with game changing products. Now we have releases like the B1K and this.
  3. I've been looking for a while now for an alternative string to the NYXLs as I hate paying so much for strings. But I can't find anything. There's just something about NYXL strings that I can't move away from. They are comfortably the most stable string I've used (bar extreme weather changes i've never needed to retune when taken out of the case) and their broken in sound seems to last an age, long past when XLs/Prosteels would be completely dead. They're brilliant. Haven't tried the XTs!
  4. Nice choice of pedal for the demo
  5. What is the controller capable of, that other controllers aren't? Couldn't find anything when I skim read, other than the idea of it being as "cheap" as £450 was unrealistic? What is the ballpark figure we're looking at? I presume there must be one if suggestions are dismissed? Edit* Swear when I first looked at the website there was nothing really on there, bit more clued up on what it can do now. Is it fair to say the USP is the interface and ease, as opposed to it actually bringing previously unheard of functionality to the table?
  6. Looks tasty! Baited breath for the price though. If there's one thing I hate about midi switches, it's paying for them, always hard to get my head around having the functionally but having to pay more to use it. Hopefully it can come in low enough to stir things up!
  7. I think everyone knows the advantages, and sometimes disadvantages, of buying and selling on here, rather than from a shop. I'm glad you enjoy it, but unfortunately the marketplace is open to all and you've got to be quick off the mark to get what you want. If a shop does buy a bass and sell it for more elsewhere, there's not a lot we can do! Just don't hesitate next time
  8. And none of them hold a candle to BSSM, but they're good records in their own right. Their sound is just different now, and it's heavily linked to John's music progression, which has never ever been financially driven. Although perhaps his decision to rejoin may have been. RHCP could release something completely not-safe and it would still sell the same, if not more.
  9. I really quite enjoyed this. Contrary to other opinions in this thread, I think they are writing EXACTLY the music they want to write, without a thought of what makes money. All they need to do is release another BSSM album and the old fan base would go wild, but instead they're doing this. I wish they wouldn't, I wish they would find the love for that raw funk again, but I don't think John especially will ever be in that place again. Given how close he was to losing his life to drugs, it's probably not a headspace he's keen to get back into again.
  10. Depends what it is I guess. They had a top of the range Warwick bass in stock at £7,000 since 2017 and its only sold this year, last pirce I saw online was still £7,000...
  11. I think it's fair to post now and hear and update as they resolve it. For me, it doesn't matter if they do resolve it, its certainly put the thought in my head that ordering from PMT may end up with a load of hassle. Dings etc you can argue happen in transit, but a missing plate?? Sounds like a return that just wasn't checked before shipping out. You'd expect that from Amazon, not a guitar store. Then again, i'd never buy a production bass without playing it first, given they can vary so much! So perhaps it hasn't really impacted on me, more just cemented my position on it
  12. It seems I may be in the minority in that I purposely let my two playing fingers have a little nail length on them, and use them to give my fingerstyle a percussive cutting edge, almost an attempt to replicate pick attack, without using a pick. Works for me in heavy music I play.
  13. I still think this instrument range is Joe Dart trolling the artist series bass world. I was convinced the first one, with that big stupid knob, was a joke when it popped up on their YouTube. They're so obviously cheap looking and lacking in features, it's almost too obvious they are the epitome of overpriced signature basses. Are we sure he's not? 😅

    Neural Quad Cortex

Doug (I think, may have been someone else at Neural) actually suggested early doors that the technology could well be adapted to capture time effects in the future, but it's not there yet. Would be mad if it did, but limited application really. I'd rather efforts were focused on creating models as good as the plugins.
  15. Surely when it comes to cyber crime like this, geographic location and a corresponding local force wouldn't be a restriction. The VAST majority of cyber crime will not have victims in the same locality, so there has to be a different system for that, surely? I just don't get how there can be so many reports against what one would assume to be a pretty easy guy for them to find, but nothing appears to be happening.
  16. I've completely lost track or understanding of what is happening here. What have the police done with each of these reports of theft from the same source?
  17. I'll just float an idea out there. If you are looking to buy a bass but want to compare several of the same bass before making the purchase on the basis of QC, consider a different bass manufacturer.
  18. I was a bit confused about how a one-man operation could be so hampered, given that if he does everything himself, he has only part supplies to worry about. But then I read this: PCBs are manufactured in Utah. Enclosures are fabricated and plated in Oregon. PCB assembly and screen printing is done in Washington. I do the final assembly and testing in my Seattle workshop. So, he designs but doesn't actually "hand-build" any of the pedals, he outsources all the circuit and enclosure work and just puts it together? That would explain a lot more why things ground to a halt for so long.
  19. I'm not sure "Absolutely not" quite conveys the message of "sorry no, he's only selling direct now", does it?? No doubt whatsoever there's more to that. I wouldn't be surprised if Bass Direct had backorders 3 Leaf have now reneged on.
  20. Interesting Instagram comment from Bass Direct Re: new stock Here's me thinking I'm the only one who still thinks that way about Spencer 😅

    Neural Quad Cortex

The tech isn't there yet, the capture technology is limited to amps and drive pedals, as far as fuzz depending on the type of circuit. It can capture the "tone" of the signal, but it can't capture modulation, time effects or anything like that. This can be explained this FAR more eloquently, but other than sustain, if the pedal changes the sound from the bass whilst ringing out, the QC can't capture the effect...yet. It is something they are working on. You're not alone with thinking this. There are lots of capture attempts in the cloud that obviously don't do as intended. Tons of people think you can capture compressors, and there are loads of comp captures uploaded, but in reality all the capture is doing is capturing the tonal qualities of the compressor, not the compressors action. I have no idea what would happen if you tried to capture a filter or similar.
  22. I mean to be fair, its a pretty bad advert for a PRS. Ain't no guitar should be breaking like that from that. It wasn't the wildest of moves.
