There is no right answer to that question. It is half the fun of effects! Experiment in all positions and whatever sounds the best to you is the best, regardless of where they 'should' be
I've read most of this thread & one question I don't think has been asked is, how much does it cost to run Basschat for a year?
I don't really think that is our concern. We are donating to help run the site and in turn we are getting unlimited listing in the classifieds section.

It is mentally bright, isn't it? I felt myself covering it with a finger or my foot when playing with settings! So did you trade for the rat tail with the guy that just missed out to you when i was selling it?

Another shuffle, happiest i have been for a while, I think i will be replacing the Mesa with my incoming replacement B3K. I cannot envisage any further changes, but when it comes to recording some demos i may well find a sound is missing. But for now, satisfied

Indeed, if you have a medium box that weighs less than 500g, it would only cost an extra 20p to upgrade from first class signed for to special delivery. Mental.

I'll have a tinkle a bit later, but i have added a Team Awesome Fuzz Machine to that loop at the end now (True Bypass) and Mesa works without issues. Fairly sure i did try Mesa > OC-2 and the volume drop was present. Edit, works fine with OC-2 after the Mesa, must have not tried that combo as it's not one i would ever use. Does look like a buffered bypass after the mesa may be resolving, rather than phase. Maybe. Point is at least in the current layout it is working. Cheers Tom.

Love that concept!

*Headache*, okay, so here is a development. I currently have 3 pedals that i wish to use in the Wonderlove's effect loop. Here is a result of testing all combinations of all them: Wonderlove [OC-2 > Bottle Rocket] = Volume drop Wonderlove [OC-2 > Bottle Rocket > Zoom Ultra Fuzz] = no issues (!) Wonderlove [Bottle Rocket] = Volume Drop Changing the order of effects does not change. So surely there must be some sort of phase issue that has been corrected by adding the Ultra Fuzz to the chain (i only picked the ultra fuzz up on saturday). I am taking delivery of a Team Awesome fuzz machine tomorrow, can i expect this addition to mess it up again?
-
Anyone any ideas then?

With the Mesa on, wonderlove on, blend knob full clockwise is quieter than the blend knob at noon.
-
Easy way to tell if it's a phase issue. Turn the blend down so none of the clean signal is present. If that's louder than 50/50 blend then phase is the issue.
So turn the blend knob on the wonderlove so it is fully wet, and compare to when it's 50:50? If that's the case, the volume at 50:50 is much louder so it's not a phase issue?
-
Sadly the pedal doesn't have a blend, anything else?
-
Will the LPB-1 flip the phase in bypass mode? I cannot imagine it will as it will be true bypass. I dont really want to use anything that will effect the tone, simply a completely transparent pedal/device that will allow me to use the Mesa as an always on pedal within the Wonderlove loop. I can see the barge concepts VB JR, Mosquite Blender and Gigrig Humdinger do it but by no means am i prepared to spend that kind of money!!
-
After reading that thread, i notice that there seems to also be a general consensus that the problem is barely noticeable in a mono rig. Is phase really my issue? As the volume drop is significant and could never be described as barely noticeable!
-
Okay, i can see that the majority of those pedals will only work when engaged, which is not suitable for me as the Mesa will be a pretty much always on pedal without further effects. I need something that will do it's thing in bypass, is there no little box or something on the market that does the job??
-
Any example pedals? You don't mean just a buffered bypass, I assume? As I have an oc-2 in the loop and problem remains.
-
Pardon my ignorance, but what would I need to do resolve, if at all?
-
I have just tried my Mesa Boogie bottle rocket in the effects loop of my 3leaf wonderlove and find the bottle rocket unusable; there is a massive volume drop when the pedal is engaged. The Mesa seems to work fine outside of the loop and other pedals work fine in the loop, any ideas? I thought it may be an issue with the valves in the pedal but as I say they work fine outside of the loop. Help

I have been going back and forth on this one and after a good practice tonight i think i am going towards selling in favour of perhaps a more traditional fuzz pedal, if any fuzz pedal at all. You know what these are, this one is a special order by Shep on here (Pantherairsoft) to be an always-on gate. With a little help from Sheps comments i will explain its modifications! It has 5 knobs; Volume, Tone, Mids, Gain (You can't use any LOW gain settings as the signal is not hot enough to open the gate!) and Gate (odd one, rather than making it internal - I use it all the way up. sounds great and just mutes all noise between the notes. A very pleasant gate. Turning it down gates more and as soon as you get down to about 2'oclock it's silent - so you only use about 20% of the knob). 3 position switch for clipping options (None, Silicon, LED). None is the middle position, and i'm not sure which way round the silicon and LED are! Its a great pedal, face ripping with the gate wide open, but quite enjoy the synthy buzz sounds with the gate tightened, awesome with an envelope filter and an octaver. £100 firm, shipped by recorded delivery in the UK. Someone has dibs on this so i have sent them a PM first to see if they are still interested, otherwise this will be available. A pic to show the rather funky 'kid paint' finish (on the far left, if you need telling)
