1. out of interest, why not a blowtorch? Its one of the best pedals i have owned for Muse sound, particularly with an overdrive pedal on before it.
2. yeah definatly. The Inn On The Green on the gloucester road does a brilliant pint of ale
3.
Well could you tell me more about the specs (mA provided) of the guenine Akai AC adapter? Thanks! As I'd like this thing to be sold ASAP (GAS!), I'll put it on eBay very soon if nobody wants it.
9v power supply, at 200ma. Rumour has it that the deep impact works better with the original power supply It was discussed in a sales thread i had for it sometime last year....http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=28435&hl=akai
4. wish i lived closer to you, would to to take it off you as it seems lovely, but the cost of shipping would make it lose its appeal have a bump anyways
5. love to try out that mxr, seems a great bit of kit..
6. bought my p pups, cheque sent straight away, cant ask for more
7. that Coronado is the best Fender i have ever seen.
8.
I think you'll struggle to get your £40 in my opinion.
Don't think you can get much better for the money, its a superb overdrive and distortion, too many people try it once and join the bandwagon and say its no good. Spend some time with it and you'll realise how good it is, even if you just use it as a clean boost. And i think around 50% off new price is a pretty good deal. Keep it at £40 bud, and have a bump
9.
Haha, if only it were a real book!...the charity shops would be full of 'em!
10. how about this becomes another BC library book, rather than someone keeping it??
11. [shameless plug] i have a genuine UK akai deep impact power supply that i may be able to sell to the buyer of this, itl raise the value of the deep impact too [/shameless plug] have a bump
12.
Guy's n Girls, Looking at possibly splashing out for a Sadowsky Metro Bass, anyone any experience of them? or possibly own one? There's a nice long waiting list so I may dip into the good second hand market - anyone want to talk me into or out of buying one? Cheers, Steve.
Be sensible and don't buy one until you try one.
13.
It's 'cos the snare beat on the 2 is unusual, without its mate, the snare on the 4. It's a little hard to count from the guitar intro. I just don't understand why anyone feel they have to play it exactly the same as the record. The obvious thing to do is to start the drums first then once people are jumping and thinking "er I know this" bring the guitar in.... As a tune it always gets a good reaction whenever it's played (we don't play it as it doesn't quite fit) so thats a pressing reason to include it in the set. Why do popular tunes always get slagged off?
+1 to all that.
14. i wish i could recommend DR low riders, but mine last about a week before i snapped the E (!) and D strings. Probably had a dodgy set, but its put me off getting them again. Been looking at these, any opinions? 16. my '57' Vintage Icon V4 P bass I bought it new, and have added the following features: Fender 10 hole gold anodized scratchplate, customised to fit the bass by me. Black plastic thumbrest JV Squier Precision pups, complete with earthing plate and cloth wires ala 57. Bridge pup cover from later 60's/early 70's, possibly fender but probably jap, nicely pitted and discoloured. Neck pup cover, probably similar age and similar heritage, equally pitted and discoloured. Currently fitted with Status Flatwounds, but i alternate between daddarrio nickle rounds too. Lovely bass. Not had too much experience with other P basses, only ever played cheap p's and the standard Fender MIM and USA models in the shop, but for me this one outplays all of them Still toying with fitting a maple board neck to complete the 57 image, but we'll see.
17. i sold my stingray 5 with status neck purely because it was ridiculous to have a £1k bass for the bedroom.
18. pm'd on onerr
19.
I'm going to try to come to this and hopefully might be able to arrange some sort of convoy from Bristol. I will bring my US Vintage '57 Precision blondie. I will contact Shockwave, joegarcia and Mr. Foxen to see if they're interested
Fine!
20.
Goddamnit. No-one is disputing that. but would he sound *equally* good on a 40 quid bass with bad intonation, and warped neck, crappy pots and crackly socket?
Because of course, this thread is about using 'bad' cheap basses.....
21. Might be able to make this, can't commit mind, theres a chance i might not be in Bristol come november. If so, il bring my Vintage P and a couple of pedals.
22. welcome to the basschat bristol clan!
23.
Guys! Some very interesting debate here and lots of opposing views - please can we chill out just a tad and I know b*llocks is a minor swearword but can we keep the lid on it a bit please!???? Anyway, we are VERY lucky as players to have such a plethora of choice when it comes to basses both cheap and expensive, we should be celebrating this!! Nick
Sorry about that, perhaps 'absolute rubbish' would have been more appropriate
24. ha ridiculous. Damn my 1 bed flat!
