The bass market is very fluid. You can get some stonking bargains and then see some basses sell for more than you'd think. - It's just the timing/luck of you selling what someone else has suddenly got massive GAS for.
+1, a few months ago a completly standard black/rosewood stingray 3eq sold for £850 BIN, whilst the next one i saw of the same model sold for £510, its all about the right buyer at the right time. Anyone wanting to sell their 'ray id advise unless they need quick money NOT to lower their price without giving it a good few weeks on here or ebay, chances are you might get more than you think
the SUB 100%, but i dont like jazz's so im biased...
however, my first bass was a squier jazz, it lasted me 2 months before i got the SUB, and that lasted me 14..... my 2 cents
im not sure about how large the difference is with these, but i know when i changed my 5 for £5 effect patch cables to george l's and cordials, there was a definate improvement in my tone
i grabbed a hondo p from the local cc, got it for fek all, took it home and realised it had a banana for a neck, brilliant... but amazingly i got cc to refund me!

...and a good idea on the "design-a-shirt" theme!
(and maybe get Lysdexia to take a photo of the winner with his fave model?)

+1
forget trying to nail his studio sound, its so complex its not worth trying, and i dont think some of his sounds are even possible live. If you wanna sound like he does live, however, then get prowling the net for a human gear animato, he uses that pedal pretty much exclusivly live now
i am, but i dont ever go on there, cannot stand the place, i tried to like it but i got an official warning for saying 'bloody' in a post, kinda finished any interest i had
im not able to get a pic at the moment, but if you look on the pic i posted in the first post, its the red sparkly pedal with 2 knobs ala red llama. Its still available, and has a very nice growly tone to it, and the bass comes through lovely, its particlarly good in low gain settings
well, avoiding all the stuff iv bought and sold again through the year, and the stuff im selling now:
In: Stingray V with status neck, bass pod xt
Out: Musicman SUB, Peavey Grind 6, all my effects and amps
hmm, good year...
