1. difficult for me to say what is good about myself rather than the easier what is bad! but meh.. Good (i guess): Can learn songs by ear pretty quick at learning new lines have quite a decent memory play decent agressive slap bass (think flea rather than wooten) have a reasonably flexible left hand for fretting good at keeping time (bit of a must really!) have the pleasure of having a truly awesome, special bass completly self taught, and consequently have my own technique Bad (easy really): terrible with a pick, unless its slow downstrokes can't tap can't read music well at all have fairly limited theory knowledge don't know many techniques, kinda limited to fingering and basic slapping struggle with chords can only finger with 2 fingers (i really wanna be able to use 3) can go from being really tight one day to being sloppy as a beer and curry sh*t the next the worst: not in a band due to uni overcrowding my social time
2. last couple of weeks stingrays have actually been selling well on ebay, including one going for around £800, which iirc was completly standard apart from a matching headstock, which doesnt rise value much anyway

Hells Bells

well thats great, if the leader is a twat im sure me n the other bar staff can figure out some nice little pranks to make him look like a nob on stage
4. anyone seen these? they any good?? supposed to be 'thebest in the country', we have them playing at our bar next wednesday, havnt sold too many tickets as of yet, just wondering what to expect
5.
In todays market, anything between £475 to £600. A Paul Turner fan might pay the upper amount or slightly more. I'd be very surprised if a PT fan would pay more than £700 for it. Hope this helps
+1 if im honest, i think to the non PT obsessive, the signature loses value rather than gains, i think this kinda situation is what ebay is pretty good for
6. out of curiosity, is this 'talkbass' model any different from a regular tonfactor/mojo hand cream pie, other than its paint job??

Hudson Basses

they are brilliant, brilliant basses, i had a 6 string, and it was by far the lightest and easiest 6 string id ever played
8. wow nice trade!!!!! lovely looking bass
9. one of the main reasons why i own a stingray and love them is because the pickup position is exactly where i like to play i love the p bass sound, but iv always struggled as i cant anchor my thumb where i want to
10. nice little selection of basses you seem to have there

Hey all!

nice intro, welcome!
12. yup, parcelforce wont insure unless the instrument is in a hardcase and in another box too, and even then its £150 max
13. i think just getting a strap that doesnt slide around would do just fine my hudson 6 string i owned had quite heavy neck dive, the body was very small and light and it had a 6 string neck...go figure, but i had a nice wide non slip strap and it never bothered me, didnt move i hate slippy straps anyways, just annoying neck dive or no neck dive
you usually say fingerboard rather than scale? is it more correct to say so?
yes it is fingerboard. Scale refers to the distance between the bridge and nut, not the material its made from
15.
HI, I might be interested does £800 seem enough? no idea what the value is rich
i lol'd im not sure on the exact value, but im thinking anything under £2000 might not be enough
16. he's a widnesian if he's 0151 :D:D awesome
17. the tonehammer might sort your overdrive needs too where did you order yours from?? im strongly thinking about it
18.
And Kev thanks for the contact and images, I think the bass is possibly a refinish? It doesn't have the Vigier decal on the body, but Im a Vig novice and not sure of the continuity of this??? Also the bass finish is too much of a brown burst for my liking. Dave
as far as i know the vigier body logo wasn't applied on the early passions. The guy is lying through his teeth if it is a refinish as he has told me he has owned since new. The number on the bass looks original, and i doubt they could have done a refinish without re applying that. Tis nice, but not nice enough for my picky mind!
19. if its a passion number 213, it wont be from 1984, the first passion was built in 1986 iirc, i was about to pull the plug on a sunburst passion number 025 from 1986, and i think that is a series 2, as series one were wooden neck thru's i think, and series 3's have the 90:10 ratio??, very nice bass though!
20. no i dont think musical instruments can be insured for any more than £150, full stop. You can't buy any additional insurance. Well you can, but it would be a complete waste of money when it came to claiming, as they would only give you a max of £150, and thats only when its in a hardcase AND has a thick box around it
