  1. I think for me it would depend on who the artist is, and how similar they may be to me or what I'm trying to be, silly as that may sound. I owned a Dingwall NG-2 Nolly Getgood signature for a time but, given I play in progressive metal type bands...I dunno, it seems hard to not come across as a fan over a musician in your own right. "Look, there's a guy pretending to be Nolly..." That new Stingray is a beauty, and I would have no qualms owning such a bass. I'd never, ever pay a premium for the pleasure/gimmicky features, whoever the artist is.
  2. Absolutely not. Him and Anthony have always been the whole vibe of the band, even right at the beginning, and there is 0 chance RHCP would continue if Flea hung up his tiny flea boots.
  3. Good to hear, how did you find yourself on here?
  4. The dedicated bass show aspect is the key, it's the reason this show came into existence. Does the London Bass and Guitar show still exist? If it does, then this one just seems to be another local guitar show, which isn't filling a niche left behind.
  5. I don't suppose they gave any indication at all as to whether or not it was going to return as a dedicated bass show?
  6. That's crazy, seriously?!! Sheldon must be wondering why on earth he's been dragged over the ocean for this. At least Bass Direct are there, but I live 5 minutes from them so it's not really a pull for me! Just wow.
  7. When you consider how this thread started, it's such a damn shame.
  8. Bass to guitar ratio??
  9. Seeing SVTs behind Flea after all these years is just odd!
  10. Well, that's just an album of B Sides. Its going to need several listens to figure it all out, but I'm amazed they didn't cut this down into a single album. Amazed. It makes Stadium Arcadium look allergic to filler. I'll report back, there as some decent moments, but wow. What I will say is that they don't give two stinky poos what is expected of them and theyre clearly creating the music that comes naturally to them now, and absolute fair play to that. EDIT Just realised it isn't a double album, it just felt like it. I'll rephrase and say I'm amazed they didn't cut it to a 45 min/12 tracker.
  11. Imagine its probably nearly four decades of success and millions of dollars that gave him the idea.
  12. I'll listen when I get in tonight, but that doesn't sound promising. Flea's tone peaked with BSSM and that Wal, the Modulus was cool and punchy, but the Fender doesn't do anything for me at all.

Thank you mate!  Hope you enjoy!

  13. A few of you enjoyed the single releases, so thought id pop another post up as its debut album release day! Metalcore/Progressive vibes, think Architects/Northlane/Monuments/TesseracT, just not as good

  14. That's mostly because it seemed to have all been booked in before they changed their minds. Glanced at their IG earlier, seems about 1 in 9 posts are bass related, rest guitar...
  15. Still not going, on principle more than anything else. Really interested to hear feedback of whether or not it does end up being just another guitar show with a slither of bass, or whether it is mostly bassists that are there. I feel I know the answer, but to those who are going I hope I'm wrong.
  16. Have the QC issues been sorted out in this range? I remember the initial thread here being plagued with reports of bad finishing/sharp edges/tone pots falling off etc.
  17. That was my concern, it seemed like it would sort of angle the bass up at you at the kind of strap height I have, which doesn't sound like something I'd want?
  18. Video out for a week. For some reason hasn't hit the algorithms as well as previous singles (at least I think that's what it is) and view count isn't great this time. Anyone who can spare 5 minutes, would be really appreciated!
  19. Haven't had chance to play one yet. Can't make my mind up what I'll think of the bizarre body contouring on the back?
  20. My disappointment is unique to this one. First single was really good, 2nd was the best I'd heard from them in years, 3rd I have nothing good to say about really. Ah well, 1 week before everyone can enjoy pumelling the album 😉
  21. Not a fan of today's release, guitar at the start reminded me of Venice Queen but nope, a complete nothing track for me, struggled to finish it.
  22. Those new pickups sounded the best of the lot there for me, I like that BTB.
  23. I guess the point I am trying to make, perhaps badly, is that if you have a 1 piece maple neck, a different 1 piece maple neck may sound just as different as a neck made of something else. The variation within just a species is huge, otherwise every Fender bass would sound the same. But to expect a specific tone shift from changing a neck, to the extent of changing its character in a specific direction, I'd just be very surprised. Stingray is a good example; stick a graphite neck on a 'ray and it still sounds like a stingray. Sure, some differences, but the character remains very much stingray. I daresay if you put a 1 piece maple neck on your Wal, it would still have all the character of the Wal.
  24. I think though that you will find big differences in how the strings vibrate and how the neck feels even from Wal to Wal, be it MK1 to MK3, 4 string to 6 string, eighties to 20's, and yet they'll all have that Wal character in the tone, that same character. The neck may serve to enhance and shift what is already there, but I can't envisage a neck alone totally changing the tone of an instrument beyond recognition. My Wal (a nineties Mk2) had something about it that I've never heard close to in any other bass, but it wasn't its playability, vibrations or the feel of the bass in general. It was entirely the sound it made.
