1. 1x15 cabs/combos when used on their own, meh
2.
I tried the Blowtorch and hated it. Like and expensive ODB-3 if you ask me...
justify that. they are entirly different pedals, i mean seriously they are nothing at all alike, and i owned both for quite a long while
3. it was the second one ever built, and the first one in a custom colour
4. coffin cases annoy me too! cases should just hold basses, not choking on dust!
5. everybodys gear is being trashed in this thread, literally everybodys
6. jealousy my friend
7. i think Ashdown wins the most hated award
8. i cannot STAND the trex bass juice, iv never heard it being used by anyone and sounding good, there is a horrific demo of it on youtube you might wana look at, but you need to try it. i tried it through a hiwatt amp and thought it sounded terrible, actually the worst distortion id ever tried, no exaggeration, but thats probably due to it not being to my taste. blowtorch, on the other hand, is a bloody superb pedal, and would recommend it to anyone
9.
BassmanKev...My Fender is worth more than £1500 and its all I play, I teach with it and I do a whole load of different kind of gigs from it and it's the only bass I've owned that I'm happy with... So am i just showing off? I can assure you I'm not rich!
you'll probably find that alot of your happy feelings about it are all psychological, especially if you aint rich i.e. your tryin to like the bass as much as possible to justify all that money. consider the bass was exactly as it is now, but is worth only £200. honestly ask yourself, would you still like it as much?? [/pyschology lesson] all IMO i could be wrong
10.
For example why the hell is there so many companies copying fender?
+1
11. il duck after i say this one.. jazz basses, i just dont like them, i hate their stupidly slim necks, and i dont like the general feel of them, and i hate that people like sadowsky and lakland usa feel the need to make super expensive copies of them, and i dont like the tone or pickup positioning MY OPINION
12.
Turned up to a mate of a mates jam session the other night. The guitarist in the 'house' band told me 3 times within 3 minutes about the +£2000 1963 Strat he was playing. Just had to say 'bloody hell you could have got 2 or 3 new ones for that' Sorry.................true story tho
i would so respect someone if they told me they just had a fender jazz, and it actually was a 1965 vintage but....no, you ask someone who owns a vintage instrument what they play, they will tell you the day it was built, and how many mm its dings are +1 on people owning expensive instruments when they play like poo another thing, i cant stand to see bassists with multiple thousands of pounds worth of pedals n effects...and then be in a generic indie or emo band
13. electro harmonix pedals, iv never ever owned one which i havnt had a problem with, whether it be build quality problems or just generally not sounding like id hoped. big muff is the only pedal by them which i actually like, and even then i only like the old sovtek ones wireless systems, just so not rock n roll, and more like the kid in school with the big round glasses and buck teeth

Akai Unibass

i have an original akai power supply if you wanna complete the collectable package if your interested, pop us a pm but yeah, any 9v dc with at least 150ma would work no problems
15. how could i forget this one, Gold hardware, cheap, chavvy and taccy looking, no no no
16. heres a couple more iv thought of and picked up from reading the thread: Passive basses, just dull, i dont get them, its just like an active bass, but with no or very limited tonal control, why? Wooden necks, since i got my status neck fitted to my stingray, i have wondered why anyone uses wooden necks? they change shape with temperature, they wear down easier, they are less stable, they are heavier, and imo the tone has nothing on a good carbon neck...graphite rules.
17. Fender basses, mainly the USA made ones, anyone that buys them purely is doing so for the made in USA sticker, quality and sound wise beaten by pretty much every bass i can think of in that price bracket. Anything by Ashdown, every effect, amp or cab iv tried by ashdown have dissapointed me, just for me such a bland tone any bass over £1500, IMO that kinda of money just cant be justified, no matter what the bass sounds like or how it plays, just for rich kids who like to say they have an expensive bass Tonefactor pedals or whatever they are called now, every one iv tried or owned, not being too many admitidly, have underwhelmed me, nice pedals, but nothing special, and IMO dont deserve the hype they get on this board Pedaltrain pedalboard, >£150 for a piece of metal to put pedals onto?? i made a wooden board, raised at rear so cables n that could be hidden, cost me £2.50. 'nuff said. no doubt il be adding a fair bit to this list, alot of stuff i see on this site i think meh about
18.
Kev! ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Good on yer moo!!! Keep buyin' 'em!
i wont even get started with you
19. link? thats an insane price
20. why do you need that many? they are nice, but i get less excited about them when there are so many

How do I get this tone
Snob! SansAmp or Hyperdrive?
haha! i have two pedals, a boss and a zoom, i am one of the least snobby effects people in this forum!! behringer do great effects, but their overdrive effect is just sh*te, which is what i was reffering to
22. from the sounds samples iv heard, id rather have a black muff tbh, but iv never tried it i may have a bash at recording some samples of the odb-3 to show how good a pedal it is tomorrow, although my laptops sound card cant handle distortion so this could pose a problem
Are you saying that I need to overdrive a valve amp to get that sound then? My Laney B1 has valve and FET preamp stages that can be used in exclusion or blended. The valve section has a DRIVE and a GAIN control. Increasing the drive does introduce distortion but, by my ears, it's not a very pleasant distortion
i think what i mean is, for that tone, itd have to be a passive p bass running into a generic bass overdrive/distortion, its nothing special, but i think you wouldnt get the tone unless you had a precision pickup. i could be wrong, it is a VERY short little section

How do I get this tone
Go for an Ibanez pd7 bass overdrive pedal, you can dial in distortion or overdrive without dumping the bass out of your sound as is a problem with the Boss overdrive ODB3 pedal. Plugging it into a guitar metal zone pedal you'll also lose the bass so Ibanez is your best bet.
are you kidding me??? iv owned both, at the same time, and the bottom end of the odb-3 is just far better and more defined than the pd7, which sounds like a behringer in comparison imo. how can you say that it 'dumps the bass out of your sound' when it has a wet/dry blend AND a low eq boost?! the pd7 definatly wasnt for me, i found the distortion to be too high middy, which i hate, but of course one man's carragher is another man's ferdinand...
