1. tbh mate im sh*te at soldering anyways so id rather get it done for me!
2. opened it all up and took the circuit out, the tone knob is not soldered down properly, i couldnt tell before as it was a tight fit. im guessing that someones been playing consignment football and my bass has took a knock. i dont have an iron as mine broke, so i cant fix it myself. cheap luthier in bristol??
3. i dont have a multimeter so it could be a fuked preamp rather than just a pot?
4. ye done that i assume since a sound is coming out, and no sound come out if i take the batteries out, the preamp is working fine, its just the tone knob isnt working, reckon its worn out??
5. bass came today, decent condition problem? the tone/eq knob has no effect on sound. iv replaced batteries and still no sign of it even slightly working. master volume and pickup balance knobs are working fine (i assume thats what they are) but the bass's tone is dull and flat, which from what iv heard of statusus cant be right. help?
6. get some new strings on it, set it up as best you can if your confident enough, and see what its like then
7. by USA version do you mean it has an american power supply and so needs a transformer?? if so, you might wanna let people know
8. im self taught, and tbh i do whatever feels comfortable tbh! if i feel im stretching too much i move my thumb to centre of the neck, if not i keep it wrapped round, but tbh i change all the time, go with the flow
9. id recommend you get a new nut, so that you have one for regular tuning and one for bead, just in case you wanna switch back. filling a nut is irreversible, changing one for another is not
10. its getting old for a ste-bass
11. nah, keep the thumb, time for the vigier to be sold....
12.
There's definately something strangely attractive about this bass!
+1! certainly not something id usually be attracted to, but i dunno there is sumit about it!

new post issue

just thought id let you know, this hasnt happened to me since you moved the forum over
14. i was just wondering if it was at all possible to modify a trace elliot gp7sm preamp so that it has a footswitch to control whether the preshap is on or off, and if so who would i go to to get it done?
15. check switch for what?? the clean boost just isnt clean, im not sayin its obvious, but it sucks my tone for sure or if your not talkin to me then il shut up!
16. i quite like it, but it certainly aint no jaydee imo
17. you would probably need a new nut, as the strings would be too thick for the notches, or you could just carfully file them to make the notches larger. other than that it would work fine.
18. not really my thing, but how does it sound?
19. dont bother with mim fenders, you can get much better basses for the same cash, in fact you might wanna look at the vintage modified squier jazz, fantastic necks on those things! maybe a geddy lee jazz? you can get a musicman SUB second hand, maybe even a stingray if you watch ebay carefully, if your into my kinda sound theres also a active status shark bass on here for £350, or at least there was, that would be a brillaint bass for you to start out on again
20. if someone wants to buy it off me for 30, go ahead!!
21. the clean boost is not what is says it is at all, clean distinctly changes your tone at high volume, no good for me.
22.
I cant wait for the chunk systems synth i feel it may be the end of the deep impact
not unless that price comes down
