1. iv noticed a high pitch 'hum' which sometimes sounds with certain effects. i hear this high pitch noise when using any gain pedal, and using a modulation effect straight after. e.g. with my big muff/odb-3/dha pedals on and a chorus setting on my zoom b2.1u is on, i get this noise, isnt that loud but noticible, more so through headphones i have tried and checked EVERYTHING, iv tried just havin one of the gain pedals and the zoom between guitar and amp, iv changed and swapped all cables, i have swapped power supplies and made sure its all regulated, i just cant figure out what is making this noise for the life of me, it still sounds even if i have the effects on with no bass plugged in! as i say its more pronounced through headphones out the back of the b2, so its not an amp problem either. from testing it isnt any individual gain pedal causing the problem, as it happens with all of them. only thing it could possibly be as far as i can think is the zoom, but i dont know how or why. again, this only happens when i have a distortion on before the zoom, otherwise no noise is heard, and it happens with chorus, tremolo, delay, phaser, flanger so far with the zoom , cant hear it with any other effects. doesnt happen with any distortion settings on the zoom. im so frustrated you wouldnt believe! again to verify, definatly NOT a power supply problem or a cable problem, or any of my individual effects, as i have tried and tested them all indivually with the zoom, all with the exact same noise. if i have more than one gain pedal on, the noise is louder. help??
2.
It is indeed, i think it gives the stingray a bit of a run for it's money anyway considering the price! I've seen people that have had the contours cut, had it refinished and had the neck shaved, and after about £200 worth of work, the only real difference then is the body wood. Though by that point it may have been worth buying a used ray. But I'm still going to get a ray or a sterling anyway. @ ou7shined, mine is a bit sticky, but not like it would be on a full gloss neck, but it's not as nice as a ray neck i think. The lack of contouring doesn't bother me at all when i'm standing up, when i'm sitting down it's a little uncomfortable, but not very. great bass though
exactly my thoughts about it too
3. very pretty, the idea of stickin a black pickguard on that is makin me rigid....
4.
Er, I think my Thumb does passive with the vol. pot pulled up but I've never tried it... I'll give it a go though. If you're referring to the thread on Talkbass where Mario thought the Pulse Synth was doing that harsh crunchy attack sound because it was receiving too hot an input signal from an active bass: Apparently after he upgraded the guy's pedal to the latest revision it stopped doing it, so I think we should be OK. Right, must do work so I can play with pedals, brb...
i dont go on talkbass il look forward to it
5. i want full active and passive bass sample of that pulse synth when your ready boyo

ay i know sovtek is eh, but iv heard the the wb is warmer and less about the highs that the eh one is, which interests me. iv wondered what the Brimmer ones were like, been quite a few on ebay recently. let the summer valve swapping commense
7. the sound is brilliant thats for sure, same 2 band preamp they use in 2 band stingray isn't it?? i reckon it could well rival a proper stingray if you stuck a status neck on it
8.
Good, one less bass with gold hardware
+10000 nice work matee
9.
What? And nobody will buy it for £450, but the reserve could be reasonable. And what's wrong with SUBs anyway?
i mean the pickguard is like a stingray's only, well, weird shaped sub's are great basses, i had one for over a year, stil my longest owned bass, its just the lack of body contouring, hence my slab of wood comment, made it a little uncomfortable for the forearm, n the painted neck sometimes felt a bit sticky, but its a great bass, certainly better than most basses for around £350

well, Mullard tube came today, safe to say i wont be using the EH again. As soon as a i put it in and switched it on, the difference was massive, the eh just sound brittle next to it. The mullard wasnt nos, but from the looks/sound of it it hasnt been used much. its the one with the shield logo with british made printed on it, bit worn off by can make it out. My particular valve is lower gain than the eh, which benefits me if anything, sounds fantastic, so much more character than the eh, more transparent and warmer (better bottom end and less highs) . id still like to experiment with more valves, but i cant see anything beatin the mullard.
12. ouch lol got the valve through the post this morning btw, in the proces of putting it through its paces now, sounds dynamite, doesnt look that used, and sounds immense, il never be using the eh valve again

19. nice intro mate, nice to see a YES fan on board! welcome to the forum
20. any reason your upgrading to the bass with the slightly warped pickguard and £450 is more than a bit expensive for the slab of wood the sub bass essentially is specially for the passive one, is that a mirror pickguard??
21. gorgeous bass, great price
22. still love the look of that bass, cant beat a dark wood warwick like that, and the shape is just funky as, pity i have nowt to trade or a spare £1050 note hanging about... good luck with it
23. feel free to anyways lol
24. behringer v amp has mixed review, general consent is that its great value for money, but you get what you pay for, apparantly notes sustain poorly on some settings and do that awful glitchy digital thing, iv never played through one so i cant confirm this, but iv read several reviews that do an auto-wah is an effect that mimics the rocking of a wah pedal back n forth. the speed and depth of which can be set. personally i prefer an envelope filter, or an actual wah pedal
