  1. Oh, and it’s good to see that the distortion can be turned off, as opposed to blended out, so you can in fact have IR on clean, just not on the multiband compression side. Odd that Nolly didn’t mention that in his walkthrough, but I guess he’s pushing his idea that you don’t need one.
  2. I think this unit has so much potential. The three demos so far have been sufficiently different from one another to get me really excited about what can be coaxed out of it. Nathan is probably my fave demoer on YT, he really knows how to give people a feel for what he reviews.
  3. I wouldn't worry too much about his idle legal threats. Unless you've lied to the good people of Basschat, you've been nothing but factual so not sure where he thinks he can go with it. I do recognise this daughter posting things story from another recent Facebook sale story, although I was actually on his side as I recall in an argument that broke out! I think the buyer posted about him being a conman as he hadn't received the item, but it was less than a week after buying it, which seemed in isolation a bit OTT, and the seller had provided them with a tracking number that showed he had just posted it a few days later than he said. Don't remember seeing the outcome, but I'm now wondering if it is the same guy posting stuff to himself?
  4. You can get a decent TV too. But if you don't need a new TV, probably isn't relevant? 😂
  5. It isn’t so much the block appearance that is helix-esque that’s really nice (it’s common sense really) but just how it all seems to work seemlessley with that touch screen display. All seems really intuitive. The helix isn’t really a comparison is it? I didn’t think the helix could capture amps/pedals?
  6. Coming from someone who has no experience with Helix/Fractal/Kemper, this thing is mind blowing. Just seeing that preset put together from scratch, it seems brilliant. I imagine it’s not quite as mind blowing for those who are used to these types of units, but the form factor and sleek UI of this seem to be absolute winners, before even taking into account its capture tool, which seems to be indistinguishable from the real thing in the guitar demos I’ve seen. We just need a bass demo!

I'm sure he wouldn't be that tacky.
  8. By all means, I'll have a listen . I would add that Darkglass are fairly brilliant for customer service, so if it turns out there is an issue and you let them know, no doubt they'll sort it right out, particularly if it is that old issue with the Low side I'm remembering.
  9. That's really interesting, as my experience is quite the opposite! Unless I'm just the mate who's convinced himself its going to happen?
  10. I'd suggest something may be wrong. With the High turned all the way down, the signal should be crystal clear low end, there shouldn't be anything else at all. The only way mine would introduce anything else in the signal would be if I was clipping the preamp if boosting it too much. I do remember them having a noise issue with a small batch of early pedals, wonder if yous is one of them?
  11. Can you elaborate the fuzz on the low end when the bass goes above 5, particularly in relation to the X7, given the control over the low end saturation you have on that pedal can keep things clean well into the mids, must be 500hz or so? The lows should be entirely free of any fuzz or distortion below this filter. It's not something I have picked up on?
  12. Wal thing by a mile, the BSSM tone is probably one of my favourite studio bass tones. Just awesome. His tone for me just sound "modern" on all records since, nothing else really stands out as such.
  13. Yikes, what a pink torpedo up!

Can see why he asked though, as there are nail holes? it’s a nice touch, reminds me of the old Sovtek pedals.
  15. I’m not sold on the drive tone at all. I’m not sure what new it is bringing to an already very crowded arena?
  16. I trust Nolly and his mixing wizardry, but I do wonder why they went for no IR on the clean side. Well, I get why, but when recording bass surely it’s the norm to track a dry track anyway, I think this interface even does that? So you keep the lows and high sparkle there anyway, so I don’t really get why you wouldn’t IR the clean side. Ie like the other Darkglass Ultra pedals, just stick the IR at the end of the chain. it’s interesting, as it means you’d struggle to use the pedal as a clean master preamp with other Darkglass circuits as it would mean no IR. Similarly, with an always-on IR on the dirt side, if you had other Darkglass ultra circuits after this, it would mean you would potentially be loading an IR on top of another one? Guess it’s designed mainly as a standalone pedal, which is cool but I’d need to hear more before I could consider swapping the others out. Sounds interesting though, for me (I think I have a fairly trained DG ear) it’s surprisingly quite different from the X and B7K circuits, given those are the ones Nolly has pushed more if any. It seems to share most ground with the Alpha Omega vibe? Definitely has some nice tone in there, but I need to hear a non Dingwall bass through it to form an opinion really.
  17. What are you powering that needs double a DC7 output?!
  18. Logo looks great with the Silver Cloth Do Barefaced do these with the same finish as the 12" cabs, as opposed to the tolex?
  19. Whilst they have common ancestry they are quite separate companies. For example, I know Neural do not have the rights beyond the B*K and Vintage circuits to the Darkglass products, hence there is no X/Alpha Omega plugins or models on the QC. I don't know how related this will be beyond the encoders, its mainly based on technology from the Element.
  20. It really isn't £500 for a "distortion pedal"....
  21. I wouldn’t apologise, this comment is in every new Darkglass thread 😂 I think the price is lower than expected, given how many more features it has than an Ultra pedal, which have rrps of £399. £70 for presets, two different signal paths, a two channel audio interface and all the modern techy stuff doesn’t sound bad at all. I always respond the same way though, it isn’t just Darkglass! The tech21 Geddy is Ultra priced, and that has comparable features. It’s just the price of this level of gear these days. For me, Darkglass has never put something out for an unexpected high price, in fact they seem to continually come in less than I’d expect.
  22. From what Nolly has said, there are five new distortion algorithms in this, ranging from dark drive to almost synth like fuzz. I agree, we need to hear a solid demo without a Dingwall anywhere near it to see what this has to offer compared to the rest of the range. If first impressions from the description/power consumption is right and these are digital algorithms, it'll be the first digital distortion by Darkglass. Big step, but perhaps natural with Neural so closely linked.
  23. Definitely one to hear a full demo of. I feel it can do a hell of a lot more than the standard nolly tone stuff you hear in the video.
  24. Well, this came from nowhere. Utlising some Quad Cortex tech as well with those footswitch/control knob attenuators. Interesting! But yes, I imagine this won't be less than £500... EDIT* £469? Not as bad as I thought at all, considering the standard Ultra costs...
