  1. Thank god for that! I think there are a few schools of thought on splitter boxes really. Quality may be the key?
  2. Wait - are you suggesting using a parallel out on a pedal degrades the primary output signal??? 😶
  3. Of course, it doesn’t eliminate it entirely as that would almost certainly impact to some degree on the wet signal, but it certainly does remove a lot of the noise whilst playing! Best way of telling is playing really softly; on a normal noise gate, with the threshold set right, playing light will give you all the white noise as well as the light playing as the gate is open, whereas with the Zuul it’s cancelling much of the white noise out so you can actually here the soft playing. You’ll have to let their marketing department know 😉 There is a reason why they are raved about, but yeah it’s a lot of money. I got a good deal on mine, they’re otherwise around £250 to get one here, on a good day.
  4. My X7 has a parallel out that I use for the Key Input, which is ideal but not everyone has that option I guess. I don't use it in an effects loop, can't stand them, it isn't necessary. Also not suitable, I need my gate before two pedals on my board for various reasons, and I DI out to FoH from my board, loop will mainly be for guitarists using their head for gain.. But yes, its $$$!
  5. Indeed, huge difference with high gain. Previously couldn't really use my two Darkglass units together high gain as there was just too much noise in the signal, however now that's out the equation there are a ton of usable tones in there. Key input sets it apart too, one of those feature you don't understand why all gates don't have. Same with Envelope Filters having a similar thing for use with fuzz pedals etc.
  6. Okay, I overspent on a noise gate. Or did I? This thing is incredible. I can’t get my head around how a pedal can remove white noise as you are playing in a signal in real time...maybe I’m just behind on noise gate tech 😂
  7. Wait. They’re in neighbouring halls, right? Surely not sharing a room?

    Microtubes X Ultra

That does sound pretty impressive. How easy would it be to knock up an X type preset? Ie setup a sweepable low and high pass filter with the compressor effecting anything below the LPF Threshold? My guitarist uses a Helix, maybe I should borrow it from him...

    Microtubes X Ultra

Unsure if you are being facetious or not, but I was just making the point that it becomes a little tiresome to hear the same complaints over and over with some small successful manufacturers, as opposed to at the very least fresh criticism or feedback on new features etc. Barefaced is the same and many others. Nature of the beast I guess as you say!

    Microtubes X Ultra

Interesting, I didn’t realise the was anything out there that really did parallel bass processing in a multi effect unit. What model?

    Microtubes X Ultra

Yet you’re all still in here talking about the new Darkglass pedal , every time one is released, more like Talkbass every day this forum....🙄 Regards to the B3K comparison, I do see the X as a replacement for that pedal, indeed that’s how it went in my setup. Voice only, otherwise the pedals are very, very different from one another in how they work!

    Microtubes X Ultra

<insert my standard defence of Darkglass prices here> I'm not sure this offers enough over my current X7 - AOU setup to consider upgrading this time. The X7 is a HUGE upgrade on the X, but this not so much if you already have an Ultra pedal in the series. The only feature that makes me think about it is the fact the compressor on the pedal can be configured to work as a normal compressor when the distortion is disengaged, potentially replacing a separate compressor pedal. I'd want to see what control you have in the suite though before considering that. The X circuit, when used right, is the best distortion Darkglass have made by far in my opinion, so this naturally will be their best pedal for many. It sounds absolutely huge.
  13. LBGS need to do something about that, quickly. Needless to say, this late a confirmation hasn’t happened in previous years, and quite clearly ticket sales are not going to kick off until acts worth seeing are announced and a decent aray of bass builders jump on board. At the moment, it’s only Warwick that I’d like to see, but based on their previous stands I’m sure they will do another half arsed attempt to showcase their instruments. I’m just not going as things stand, which is a shame as it’ll be the first time in years I haven’t been one.
  14. Didn’t know that pedal existed! How does it compare to the real thing?
  15. Bass Direct aren’t exhibiting, and no Dingwall?
  16. I love my twilight one, But the swirls on this are really nice! These are excellent basses, really love my fiver, kinda tempted by this...
  17. Will certainly replace the Manta! 🙂 I returned an FI a day after I bought it. I still have the C4 two days later.... 😂
  18. Good to see the exciting announcements are still to come, fingers crossed!
  19. No, you need to use the toggle switch as well, with the footswitch being held to change between banks, but i think the point we’re both making is that midi is not necessary to use the Pedal successfully, which you implied. Bearing in mind I have one, have already set it up with a few less crazy sounds and am happy I could use it at my next gig if I wanted 🙂
  20. You can switch between two? 😂 Depends on your use I guess. Midi will certainly help.
  21. Not sure I’ll use more than 6 presets in a single set to be honest! Although, midi would be easier!
  22. Spectrum is out next month I think! Don’t know how much cheaper it will be, have to be a good chunk to be worth it...
  23. Popped into Bass Direct on my lunch, they had five left...
