Darkglass / NeuralDSP moving into hardware???? UPDATE: The Quad Cortex
Kev replied to fretmeister's topic in Effects
Yup, despite the underwhelming first demo vid, it’s gone down VERY well at NAMM, which is promising! Not seen any bassists talk about it though, so i wonder if It’s just guitar models that are ready at the moment. -

I’ve got a bank statement saying £170 odd, it’s just out of stock so may take a while to arrive ... -

Darkglass / NeuralDSP moving into hardware???? UPDATE: The Quad Cortex

Valid stuff, but I am just saying it applies to everything in the same sense. £100 bass would do that same as a £4000 bass from the perspective of 90% of people in the crowd, yet how many of us on here play what we strictly need, not want? This is no different. For me, the QC costs less new than my pedalboard added up and adds a LOT more I don't already have as I have made do without (want/need), the difference being buying it all at once. I could never have afforded that or justified buying all from scratch, but selling all second hand now will still pay off the QC. Yeah, if you don't actually sell it off then its a big investment for little gain, but otherwise it's just swapping gear, losing a little in finesse and gaining a lot in practical function. A lot of it is looking at it logically vs emotively. And yes, the quality of my gear ludicrously outweighs my skills as a bassist. And my own financial position. But hey ho! -

Even that though, it depends on what gear you need. Add up the cost of a good varied effects pedal laden board, power supply, patch cables, recording interface, headphone amp, cab simulator, tuner e.t.c. and, if you have decent gear, you can't be far off. On the gig payment front, how many gigs do you need to do to pay for the other tools you use, your basses and your backline? IEM's? Lights? PA? Your comments would suggest being a musician is eye watering in itself... -
Not V3.0 as I say, an earlier one. I have heard tracking has been improved, but it appears from this thread people are still finding the C4 better at it?
-
I’m more just saying the C4 in comparison to the FI (Not the latest version) tracks notably better, in my experience. Being an old DI user I am more than aware of the limitation of a mono synth 🙂

It's a shame that tracking still appears to be a bit of a sticking point. It's weird, I only had a brief time with the FI but my experiences was it didn't track as well as the DI, or at least the glitches were less musical, so to speak. I thought the latest version improved tracking, but perhaps its still not quite there? The C4 by comparison I found to be the best I've experienced with such a pedal.

Darkglass / NeuralDSP moving into hardware???? UPDATE: The Quad Cortex

A sensible response 👍🏻 The implication always seems to be that Darkglass and the like are more expensive than they should be, which in reality their growth in the market suggests that is entirely not the case. In this specific case, the Neural seems to be priced very competitively in comparison to its main rivals, so again is not expensive for what it is. Of course, it’s expensive in general, but that’s just the level we are now at for the kind of gear you can get now. If it’s not affordable , look at Helix. I am sure there are Zoom users that find the Helix expensive too, and that’s fine. Different markets. Rickenbacker is an example of an eye wateringly expensive product 😉 -
Darkglass / NeuralDSP moving into hardware???? UPDATE: The Quad Cortex

Is it though? Always the default response to anything Doug is involved with, but this is in direct competition with Fractal and Kemper and it’s cheaper than both? -
Darkglass / NeuralDSP moving into hardware???? UPDATE: The Quad Cortex

I am confident he will, Darkglass usually ship out a fortnight or less after an announcement, so I am sure he has got the timing right on this if he's giving it nine months. Also, 1000 people have just paid a £170 refundable deposit on £1370 of gear, there will sadly almost certainly be dropouts. Saying that, Tier 2 (November shipment) is filling up from what I hear as well... -
Darkglass / NeuralDSP moving into hardware???? UPDATE: The Quad Cortex
Kev replied to fretmeister's topic in Effects
It's crazy, really. Technically, first bit of hardware this company has made, no demos, no real sound samples and they have made 200K in deposits in a weekend. Seems Doug wasn't content with dominating the bass effects world! Long nine months await... -

It’s a screenshot of a video, it’s not BS 😂 oh, and pre-ordered. Gulp. -

I've been itching to tell people about this for so long! Doug has dedicated his life to this for two years, it looks incredible. The idea of going full digital is scary, but this just looks fantastic and the price is fantastic. Who knew i'd be a fan, eh? It's only usually Darkglass stuff I like..... 😉 -
What a pair... Still can’t get over the finish on the new one, it’s just perfect!
-
Have another. Not sorry.
-
That packaging is unbelievable! But wow, what a bass for the money it seems, where did you get it?
-
£2349. That’s the very base level cost of a new Alpher, before any of the extras associated with topwoods/electronics etc. Mine is insured for around £4.5k to replace new. £1k for this instrument is CRAZY. Buy it before he comes to his senses! Edit To add a bit of meat to the bone, I used their online tool to spec up this bass to order now, it would be £3,899.

Ohhhh I saw that today and had palpitations, it looks STUNNING
-
Gulp. And I moaned about paying £3.50 each for the quick release plates for Temple Audio boards...
-
Wow, I shudder to think how much they may cost!
