I’m just hoping that they take the almost universal feedback on the price on board and have a rethink, be it cutting costs in some way if the profit margin isn’t as high as everyone thinks it is, or something else. But the fact these basses are this price, made in Indonesia AND aren’t all coming out perfect is a real issue.

Darkglass Microtubes X - great condition in box. Only selling following an upgrade to the X7 Darkglass Microtubes X Mutiband Bass Drive Pedal Distorting bass has always been a very challenging engineering endeavour. In order to achieve a punchy and aggressive distortion, that is also full and fat-sounding, you really need to reconcile two contradicting conditions. The tightness comes from attenuating bass frequencies before saturation, which will also result in a very thin signal, however boosting the lows can also result in additional, unwanted fuzz. To solve this paradox, audio engineers have been using multiband distortions in the studio for a few decades now. The Microtubes X is our solution to this issue, but in a very compact form and just right for your pedalboard. The audio is split by two variable low-pass and high-pass filters at the very start of the signal chain. The high-pass signal (mostly the mid and treble tones) is distorted using CMOS circuitry, just like our other Microtubes pedal circuits. The low pass-signal (all bass) is left untouched. This lets the high frequencies be all crunch, attack and full of rich harmonics, all while mixing back in the undistorted lows to add gargantuan size to the overall mix. The result is virtually unlimited fullness, size, aggression and definition, regardless of how old the strings are or even if your instrument is just boomy or thin sounding. The Microtubes X offers all of this in a compact form with very few controls to tweak, making it almost impossible to dial in a wrong tone.

No, I’m not sure I’m doing the right thing as this thing sounds unbelievable, but I prefer the feel of the Thumb and this is too much bass for a backup. Mehhhh. Trades, it would be pretty limited, Warwick SSII, possibly Thumb NT5, or a good solid NT 5 string with a tiny neck (Premium Ibanez or similar). -
Selling this outstanding Dingwall ABZ4 in a stunning black burst finish with the blackened head/heel option and active Glock pre. Lots of expensive extras on standard spec, Full blurb and Bass Direct spec: The new ABZ series from Dingwall brings together the brilliant fan fret technology with a more streamlined build that produces a Canadian hand made bass at a really good price. These basses are ideal if you are using drop tuning enabling tuning down to D or lower because of the 36 1/4" scale on E string gives a tight and punchy note! Lightweight easy to play, massive array of tones - this bass will take you to a new level of playability and tone. Time after time players are amazed at how easy and intuitive fan frets feel to play - most admit that it is actually easier and more natural., plus you have the benefit of class leading note clarity and punch that will let you be heard in any mix. •SPECIFICATIONS: •ABZ 4 string •Dingwall made in Canada FD3N pickups •Glockenklang 3 band preamp, Volume, Pickup selector (Bridge, both parallel, both series, Neck) •Active/Passive switching on volume (treble pot becomes passive tone control in passive operation) £320 option •Dingwall USA strings - buy HERE •Two piece swamp ash body •Trans Black burst satin finish •Blackout out head/heel - £160 OPTION •Maple Fingerboard - satin finish, 34 - 36.25" - £239 OPTION •Banjo frets •Novax® Fanned -Fret System™ •Maple neck •Hipshot ultralight tuners (black) •Optional rear strap button (allows to bass to hang 4 - 5 inches over to your right) •Custom Dingwall Bridge (Black finish) •Weight - 3.6kg 8ln 6oz •Manufactured in Canada I love this bass, but I am so much more comfortable on Warwick 4’s I’m struggling to find a permanent place for this, even though it sounds so much better. I will get more use out of another Warwick or a 5 so I’m being sensible. Its in good condition, Lettering fading on neck pickup and couple of small marks on the body that come naturally with use, but overall great and the neck/headstock is pristine. Comes with original gig bag. original bass direct sales page: http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/ABZ4_Blackburst.html Current photos available if interested, in the meantime my Instagram feed has a ton... http://www.instagram.com/kevinhidebass cheers! 12/03 reduced to £1,200 plus shipping.

In the spirit of their typical 100% markup, did they really buy a bass off someone for over £6k?? I think not. No reason to see why its not genuine, but I bet a widow or otherwise vulnerable person has been fleeced here.
-
Nope. But I’m holding out hope they’ll reconsider consider how far out they are with it.

That bass originally belonged to Bill, bassist of Rag'n'Bone Man I believe, sounds nice but daft weight. It would have cost over double that new in 2015 with those options, easily (High Polish, Macasser ebony top, maple board, nordstrand pickups, matching headstock) although he may have benefitted from artist pricing I guess.

Nice score, would love a Pro M. Lovely instruments.

Unless you do a lot of chordal work at the dusty end, I think most people will pretty seamlessly transition.

I couldn’t care less where it is built if the quality is there. Problem is, comparing how much it costs to build instruments in Indonesia vs Canada/UK/US and western countries in general, it’s so very, very expensive. And that’s before you simply compare it to their guitar costs...

So, £3k. At least the prog bass is cheaper after all. Weakest at least ever though. I’m VERY surprised, incredibly bold to go in at such a high price for a first stab at building a bass. Crazy.
