I don't add too much weight to the tone of EMGs compared to the MECs, the MECs are an EMG clone anyway I believe so not exactly surprising they are similar. The EMGs are perhaps slightly rounder and less tinny, but there isn't much in it really, although many swear by them. My '89 thumb though is a dream to play. Very slim neck, slim body, perfect balance and just makes me want to keep playing. I have owned two Thumb's from 2000 with the chunkier bodies and necks and your word is good, I did find them rather more exhausting to play. Remain tempted to drop a pair of Barts in my thumb for comparison.

Darkglass M900, second one I have owned. This one is a few months old. In very good condition and comes in original box with the intelligent footswitch. Selling as for various reasons, primarily I am moving all drive etc back to my pedalboard and using an amp for on-stage sound only, the rest going FOH from the board. I wont be using the drive circuit anymore, which seems a waste [disclaimer - I am still very much using Darkglass drive, just via a AO and B7K Ultra!] . A Mesa suits my needs better. An exceptional amp with the superb Darkglass B3K and Vintage circuits built-in, but is also capable of producing a hell of a lot of clean power and volume. The loudest Class D I have used, for sure, can do 900w at either 4 or 2 ohm switchable. £700, shipping extra at cost, happy to meet up to.

In a nutshell, yes to all.

Spent some more time with this, I'm really loving this little rig. The cab seems to correct everything I didn't like about the 'tone' (or lack of) of the Big/Super cabs; the subtle eq curve of this speaker is really pleasing and surprisingly (or not given the ampeg vibe) works really well with my distorted lines. I found the other BF cabs I have owned simply too clinical and found they really didn't work well with distortion without heavy EQing. I will be trying this out in rehearsal and looking into whether or not a dual One10 rig would be enough to actually use with Barbikan, but that being said I still don't envisage a gig where a backline/PA isn't provided. The Mesa is really impressive tonally, used with the Darkglass B7KU I find myself with a much more flexible setup than the M900 alone. I really, really like the Voice knob and deep switch. I also don't think I have ever spent so long gazing and admiring a rig!

All I have ever read is that they were built in Japan and set up in Germany with parts. They were discontinued due to the poor quality control in the German factory, I remember reading batches and batches of them were written off before shipping. Alway fancied trying one, if only because of John's comments 😁

Beta Test & Review D’Addario NYXL Bass Strings
Kev replied to D'AddarioUK's topic in Accessories and Misc
I remember these strings feeling higher tension than what I was used to when trying them, and at the time that would have been XLs and Flexsteels. -
@Al Krow Providing the D800 was there or there abouts tone/power wise, the M9 was always going to struggle to win that head to head as size and weight is pretty important for me at the moment. That being said, The D800 certainly has the Carbine vibe tone wise. Voicing knob doesn't cover ground that position 4 and 5 cover on the M9, but they were always too mid heavy for me anyway. I use a Cali76 so I don't miss the built-in compressor, and the B7KU preamp pedal I used gives me additional EQ control I lose over the M9. However, lets see what happens when I turn it up

In 2ohm mode its only putting out 320w, so should be just fine. In any case, unless I buy a second One10 and consider actually gigging it, it wont be pushed at all I've actually just sold my Berg setup as I haven't gigged with my own cabs for over 12 months, venues I play in the circuit almost always provide a backline with full PA support so for me its mostly amp head to FoH the punters are hearing. Should the need to have my own backline arise again, as I say I may buy a second One10 and see if it can cope, if not Ill get something cheap and heavy I can stick in the shed and not have taking up valuable space in the house! Intend to take this little setup to rehearsal soon and stretch its legs a little. I'm also agonising over whether this Mesa can replace my other amp (Darkglass M900); initial signs are looking that way for sure, but we shall see at proper levels!

It isn't a silver cloth or at least, certainly not the same silver as their other cloths, much darker. (below rig isn't mine!)

Market is better now than it was a few years ago, but still not where it should be for such great instruments. I love my Corvette $$, I only wished it had the curved body of the Streamers and Thumbs. Have it tuned CGCF at the moment in preparation for a potential new band I may be involved with and it really roars. My 1989 Thumb I can say is the nicest Warwick I have played and I am sure it will be my #1 for many years to come now. The neck is fantastic, slim and 'fast' with zero neck dive and plays so well. EMGs sound great too.
