Quoting Doods for sale thread the rounded end FD3's are 104mmx32mmx19mm HxWxD
Regarding the third pickup, I believe one will fit, but the issue you will have is that the routes are not parallel on the 2X models, whereas they of course are on the 3X. I think modding without installing a scratch plate would probably not work as there will be extra routing from the adjusted angle of one of the existing pickups. If its the bridge pickup that needs adjusting it may work, but I imagine there would still be gaps. I have never been tempted, mainly because the setting I use (both pickups in series, with their coils in series) is not a setting on the default wiring of a 3X dingwall switch. I enjoy the bridge-middle in series when I have tried it, but it doesn't have the same umph for me. Regarding Battery route, the main guy in Cov that services and modifies Dingwalls for Bass Direct does not route the battery compartment. I imagine it would need to go to Canada for that to be done properly. I had mine converted to Active and didn't worry about the battery compartment. The preamp switches to passive if the worse case scenario happens and I don't have a screwdriver, but I have been using mine with the same battery for almost 12 months now (4 hours or so a week) with no issues, thats with the Darkglass preamp.
I finally grabbed a B7K to see what all the fuss is about. wow ! There's the tone I was searching for all these years. Just dial my amp flat and let the B7K provide all the goodness
Yup, really was the sound in my head when I first tried it. Never tried anything like it since!
If you only use one output from the amp, and your speaker cable goes bung, you will lose output to both cabs, whereas if you use both amp outputs you will still have one working cab.
He only has one output Just don't use cheap thin cables and you'll be fine.

Looking to upgrade my head - need help as I'm a bit confused

If you can stretch to it, Darkglass MT900. Loudest amp I have ever played through, does clean very well and of course has a comprehensive drive section, should you need it. -

I have two incredible 5 strings at the moment. The Alpher has some of the fines woodworking I have ever seen on an instrument, incredible woods and the Nordstrand/Dingwall electronics package is something else. Very flexible and can nail pretty much any sound. Very deep sounding bass too, which I attribute to the heavier tone woods. The Dingwall is the best playing bass I have ever played, no contest. Ultra low action, plays like a dream and the sound is incredibly aggressive with the Darkglass preamp, perfect for use in my current band. Sure, it doesn't have the finesse of the Alpher, but its just so much fun to play and the sound is brutal with a bit of distortion. I think the small frets play a huge part in the playability too.
I actually love it when this happens.... "Oh that's way too expensive......oh it's sold" lol Happened recently when I sold my JV Squier on Facebook.... "Oh that's way too expensive for a Squier" "That's ok, it just sold so......" Si
I don't really understand why people were saying the Thumb was expensive though. Certainly not as shop stock.

Some bugger called Damien has reserved it...

Daddario Flexsteels - question about flexibility/feel of these
Kev replied to markdavid's topic in Accessories and Misc
You are correct, they have been discontinued.
Wow. Definitely the best feeling and sounding strings of yours I used. Why? -
You know, the more I look at those pictures, the more I want it...
I noticed that. An astronomical price for an LX. I sold a near mint 2009 model with the nicer neck profile for a smidge over £500!
Do bear in mind Bass Direct do commission sales. They may not be Mark's prices If I had to guess, the Thumb would be a trade-in at that kind of price (realistic), whereas that LX may well have been a commission sale, where the seller needs to get their 20% commission back somehow
Zoom in on the fret markers and the one on the right you can see a bit of red in- I think they are red LEDs and having seen a few bass direct bass descriptions I think it's far more likely they forgot to meantion them.
I thought it was weird! Given its 5 minutes down the road from me I could just go and check it. Regarding price, it isn't that bad. You would want to list it for less than £1,200 privately, so £1,500 at a shop is pretty reasonable.

http://www.bassdirec..._thumb_NT5.html ...is it me, or was this bass fitted with side LEDs (switch and extra battery route) which are now removed, leaving holes where the side dots should be? Check the picture that shows that side of the neck and zoom in. I mean, it could just be that the LEDs appear black when off, but they bizarrely look like holes to me! Odd that LEDs haven't been mentioned in the description either.

Each to their own. I don't like it, largely because i have very seldom seen a reliced bass that looks natural (some of the wear points are bizzare, what on earth is the relicing on the inside of the top horn about?) but also I would rather create the wear myself, or buy an old bass with genuine wear, than pay for a battered brand new bass. Or, buy a bass with a decent finish in the first place! I swear though, if I see another classifieds ad stating that all dings and wear are "original" and its otherwise in mint condition...

We are truly blessed to have so many amazing luthiers on our shores. If budget allows, I would always try and have something built here to support this wonderfully strong community! (But, of course, would still strongly recommend an Alpher...)

More than unusual, that neck doesn't appear to have a volute either, so it looks like it is a neck from the early/mid nineties that never got used. What year is it? (last 2 digits of serial, can't quite make out). It looks like 05?? Which would be very interesting Also TRC states its a Fortress One, which of course it isn't, its a Masterman as you say.
I messaged him asking for a photo or info on the otherside of the head stock..he has just got back to me with "after further investigation it is a music man bass but it's a sub ray 4 sterling the guy i spoke to got it wrong. So I've relisted it as that sorry for any confusion"
Further investigation?? Nowhere does it say Musicman on that bass. Devious, although I don't really understand his new technique to try and get it sold. Bass Guitar?

Reported it? Quite a poor attempt, I would hope all Stingray buyers would realise this is a no-no.
