1. Damn, Glad I dont have the money, I wouldn't have a clue which to pick!!!
  2.
I miss out on so many good basses because people won't post
Sorry bud, I am usually happy to post but when its something of this value and I don't already have a box or case it just isn't worth it I'm afraid!
  3. Recently purchased this as a panic-backup for a gig I had at the weekend and this was the only bass locally available in budget! No use for it really so, as surprised by it as I am (its absolutely crazy good for the money), I need to replace it with something more aggressive and modern. Bass is strung with some nice Flatwounds and sounds really nice. Can't fault the build quality at all really, neck is straight and smooth, neck pocket very tight, finish is good quality and the hardware seems fine. I have no idea how they make these basses so cheap! Only negative is the pickguard is roughly cut on one side, but other than that I can't fault it for what it is. Specs:

Vintage series
Body: Basswood
Bolt-on neck: Canadian maple
Neck profile: C - shape
Maple fingerboard with dot inlays
20 Frets
Scale: 864 mm
42 mm thomann nut width
Double-action truss rod
Wilkinson MWBP Alnico vintage PB-style single coil pickup
1 Volume and 1 tone control
Deluxe chrome hardware
Classic PB - style machine heads
Strings: Daddario .045 - .100
Finish: 2-Tone sunburst high gloss
Will consider including this as part ex for something more appropriate. No gig bag with this and no box so collection or meet up only please. It is located in Leamington Spa. Cheers
  4. Looking to maximise funds to purchase a backup bass so I am considering selling my Darkglass Super Symmetry Compressor. Ill likely regret it as this is the second I have owned, following regret the first time. You never quite realise how much you love it until its gone! Superb compressor, I wont try and describe what it does but check the Darkglass website and, probably more importantly, the Ovnilab review http://www.ovnilab.c...darkglass.shtml for a great description. Pedal in great condition with a little velcro on the bottom. Latest version with the smoother aluminium box. Price includes original box/candy and UK shipping.
  5. Don't Fender change their specs year on year, however minor? I'm sure they have used different pickups since 2012 on the standard. Personally I would send it back, although I guess they have done nothing wrong unless they advertised the current specs e.t.c. EDIT I should say on the proviso the bass is just 'ok'. Appreciating Fender QC, if its a good one then keep it if the spec is the same!
  6. Just been drooling over this on FB and now it appears on here. Stop following me!
  7. Stunning! There is no luthier rivalling Alpher for woodwork, plenty of credit to their sources too!
  8. Serial number? Whenever a birth year Warwick comes up I need to check the month...

    Dingwalls
I should have fitted a darkglass to mine instead of looking at the Z series. I wanted an active circuit, it even had a wenge neck with oversprayed bubinga top. The Z3 replacement was magnificent but had a coffee table wood top and cost a fortune, Still a magnificent bass. Are you still using the purple one Kev? I'm just going to have to save a bit more and do the dream order from Sheldon.
Yup, still using the 'Cadbury Bass' as my main bass, perfect for the band and honestly plays better than any other bass I can remember, super low action and super fast as a result I fancy a D-Bird...

    Dingwalls

Everyone has realised how good they are My AB1 is the pick of all the Dingwalls I have owned Col, its incredible with the Darkglass preamp. I wouldn't choose my old ABII or Z1 over it.
  11. Whenever I have contacted anyone about a bass on Talkbass, I have always got pretty rudely dismissed as a non-US resident and as such impossible to deal with..... Not quite as global friendly a place as here
  12. Gorgeous bass, what's the rrp on a model like this?
  13. More companies jumping on the 'brexit' philosophy and raising prices. There is no justification for raising the price of items that are already in stock . I hate big business!
  14. For me, a good multi effects pedal is a very good thing indeed, providing you are comparing like for like. Comparing a Zoom multi with a standalone boutique pedal for example is just plain daft, their RRPs are practically the same!! Try comparing with Fractal/Eventide etc. That being said, I have never found any kind of dirt sound that could compete with analog pedals. Otherwise, if anything digital wins out pretty much all other categories for me.
  15.
I'd be amazed if there is an off the shelf item smaller than the standard Status one.
Whammy placment

I would imagine you get the best results after the compressor, but just experiment
  17. Interesting how people's opinions differ! I love his demos too.
  18. SO much want, but entirely based on reputation as I have never heard one of these in the flesh! Funny old thing, GAS...
  19.
Don't the Barefaced tweeter controls operate backwards, i.e anticlockwise to "open up" the tweeter?
Can't comment on the current generation, but Gen2 tweeters did not work that way.
  20.
I'm pleased to say that I will be taking delivery of this beauty soon ! Sadly has meant I've had to let go of my Wick Dirty Blond, but how many basses can a man play ?!!
oOo
  21.
I reckon the Harvest has just as good protection, if not better than the Mono. Even if it may not look like it, they're VERY well padded. Mine seems to have some sort of board in the back of it as well to keep things rigid.
I haven't really come across anything quite like the "Boot" of the Vertigo case. Always a weak point in more traditional gig bags for me. I'm sure the Harvest is brilliant!
  22. Just for simplicity bud? The two mids controls on the new Vintage Deluxe and the Ultra replicate the Era control, plus add a lot more of course.
  23.
The Harvest full leather gig bags are currently £259 on their web site. With the Mono M80 gig bags being listed at £200-ish, the difference is not as great as it was.
Jesus, Mono have increased prices, my Vertigo was around £130 when I got it 2 years ago and it was more expensive than the M80 then. Can't imagine any other gig bag protecting it as much, but yeah if they are now as much as £200 then leather isn't that much after all!
  24. Seeing some serious inspiration in some of those designs... I would quite like a leather gig bag, but its a helluva investment for what is ultimately style over substance in many ways.
  25. Only tried mine with Bergantino 1x12 and 2x12 and Barefaced 1x12s. Sounded great with both, but really excels with the Bergantinos. Mid character really marries well.
