I don't really know too much about the Fender market, but I would have though a Deluxe jazz under £1k would be a reasonable deal, although this one is a little older. If the condition is good though, whats not to love!
  2.
Warwick have actually licensed the Steamer shape from Spector. My Streamer. The best sounding bass I own. http://www.warwick.d...--Features.html
Awesome. Much as I would love one, how is it for scratching?! Id be terrified of using it!
  3. Certainly a helluva discount for the early buyers!
  4.
Hi all I have an EBS HD350 - great amp, lucky me . It's 350w and runs down to 2 ohms. I sometimes use with two 500w 4 ohm cabs, EBs Neo 212 and 210 - sounds sweet. Still good with just one but just loses a little extra chutzpah. So, school me Basschat - I've heard of dummy loads but know little. Is it possible to plug something in that would give that full 350w 2ohm goodness into just one cab? Cheers Jason P.S. Apologies is this is an electronically daft question.
I can't help with your query, however what I would say is you will likely notice very little difference if you did manage to get those extra few watts out at 4ohms. Chutzpah that you lose is the lack of speaker drivers as opposed to the lack of power really.
  5.
I'm thinking of a streamer cos I love p pickups and mainly cos I saw a few german made lx models on here and was really suprised how cheap they were . I'm am old school fender with flats kinda guy but sometimes I need a modern tone and I've always fancied a warwick and when I saw a few on here I thought I could afford one of these but is it actually a proper warwick? , hence the post
All German made Warwicks are 'proper'. personally I have a heavy preference for the NT models rather than the BO, but that really is just personal preference. What's your budget?
  6.
Hi spencer.b, Any particular reason you want a Streamer? I only ask because the original Streamer shape is the Spector NS - nicked by Warwick in the '80's. They do tons of models in that shape and IMO are better value.
What an odd post. Hang on whilst I drop into every other manufacturer thread in the forum and recommend people go buy a Fender...
  7.
Looks like it's only for the guitar strings, can't see any offers on bass strings
I imagine it would have been posted in the bass section if there were any
  8. If this is anything like the Midget T - Super Compact combo I use, this will be an incredibly powerful setup
  9.
I thought the Warwick TR could be fixed pretty easily?
Not since the volute. Truss rods were very easy to remove, but because the necks kept breaking they introduced the volute, into which the truss is anchored as such cannot be removed without serious surgery.
  10.
I notice that Warwick basses suffered a lot of problems neck. Wise bit of a joke considering what they cost
Since the volute was introduced in 1997ish I have not heard of many problems?
  11. So many good filters out there at the moment, there is really no need to buy an old Mutron. Avoid 3Leaf gear, they just can't get that kind of filter sound right, but much of the boutique *mutron style* filters out there are great. Avoid the Hazlabs as well, a Qtron will get you closer.
  12.
Thanks for clarifying the various manufacturing options that Warwick are currently offering. I had been a bit confused up to now as to what actually constituted a proper German-made Warwick nowadays. So essentially, what Warwick are now calling a Masterbuilt / Custom Shop bass is what I would call "a Warwick". I too remember when that's how they all were, and they didn't cost anything like the equivalent of what they do now. To make an analogy, they are asking Rolls Royce money for a Volkswagen, if you follow my drift. Volkswagen are great cars, and Warwicks are great basses but you pays your money and you takes your choice. I can't imagine too many punters in the UK will be stumping up between four and six and a half grand for a Warwick bass. It's a classic case of being priced out of the market. In the interest of balance, it has to be said that whoever owns Warwick is a business man not an altruist. I'm sure he knows what he is doing in terms of making a profit, and he is not under any onus to make his basses "affordable" . Over the years I've seen Warwick grow from being just another little independent bass-maker to what must be one of the biggest guitar companies in Europe, so in commercial terms he must be doing something right!
They are expensive, but they are incredibly well built now. Believe me, compare the basses that were built in the early 00's with the ones being built today and they are worlds apart. In my (rather extended) experience, the current Warwick builds are the best they have every built as a company. The build quality of my 2013 Streamer was notably better than the dozen or so eighties/early nineties Warwick basses I have been through. The difficulty is they used to be cheaper, which makes them seem so expensive now. Ultimately though, their workshop will be very similar to other high end bass builders. Take Dingwall for example, they are not dissimilar in cost, but you rarely see as much bleating about Dingwall prices. The so called 'masterbuilt' basses are built using top end machinery in a workshop that only produces 250 or so instruments a year.
  13. Hmm. Pessimist as I am, I can't really get past my initial thought on this: PJB are taking advantage of their own loyal customers with this. I personally cannot think of any situation where having a little speaker on a stand next to you on stage is the best solution to hearing yourself. Have your bass stacked up to ear level, tilt a small cab up at you, IEMs etc. £180 a pop for these, no no no. All IMO, of course
  14. A request to please get back on topic - this thread is about where to buy Warwick basses and is not about Spectors or any other instruments. Enough with the bickering already
  15.
As I understand it, he's saying he's expecting unity gain at the noon position?
I was referring to when he said that the volume was lower when the pedal was off, which doesn't sound right at all.
  16. First of all, how old is your Vintage Microtubes? USA or Finland built? To be clear, you are saying that your bypassed tone is quieter with the pedal in line, than going direct into the amp? Presume you have tried different cables/power supplies etc?
  17.
I didnt realise the newer Warwicks had Warwick tuners, I have two earlier models with Schallers on.
The Corvette for sale is 100% German. If it isn't, ill give you the money back myself Warwick (Gotoh) standard tuners on all Warwicks now unless custom, even the wooden ones currently used on the top models. A weird upgrade Warwick never made, weakest part of the hardware for sure.

    Sold!!

Holy moly, that's a fine bass with the best upgrade Dingwall has to offer and a super price. These things sound incredible. GLWTS
  19. Don't feed the troll guys! Warwick generally don't seem to have any presence in the UK anymore. There was a slight revival when the GPS was released and a few stores stocked them, but I haven't seen any new stock in a long while over here
  20.
Exchange rates I bet. I doubt very much DG have raised their price so soon after release.
Well I actually thought initially that the £769 preorder price was pre-brexit referendum and didn't take into account the falling currency (this supports why Andertons was cheaper than anyone else, despite being comparatively pricy for Darkglass gear) but I can't really see why it took them so long to sort the price out.
  21.
Yeah, it's becoming a little out of hand at £900.
But when you look at the cost of the new Mesa, which doesn't have something with the same prestige as the Microtubes engine in it, can you blame them?
  22. Price Hike https://www.andertons.co.uk/p/MICROTUBES-700/bass-amp-heads/darkglass-microtubes-900-bass-head-amp £895... quite a leap! No change at Bass Direct yet...
  23. The TH500 is definitely one of the weaker Class D amps in my experience . Certainly, the weakest in terms of perceive 'heft' (I hate that damn term!) out of those iv tried. Although rated much higher, the Tecamp Puma 900 was much, much louder with much more presence. The Darkglass M900, rated the same as the Puma, is much louder and punchier again. Big differences between class D heads!
