1. Oh, and no issues with mine out the box at all. Knobs all good e.t.c.
2. Wow. 45 minutes in and this unit is blowing me away. Neighbours are out as well so a bit of volume was possible through the Berg too. Funny that the initial thing that impressed me out of the box for me was the foot switch! I was expecting quite a light metal box due to the size, but its got a good bit of weight to it! Very solid indeed. The amp looks stunning, and again has a bit more weight than I expected. It oozes quality in a way I haven't really experienced in a bass head before. An Apple computer perhaps, but not bass gear It sounds so MASSIVE (I will not use that H word), its really difficult to explain why. The EQ is superb, this will be the first amp I won't run flat in quite a while. The flat sound of this head couldn't be further from the stereotypical Darkglass sound, very clean and surprisingly warm. However, with a bit of mids manipulation it sounds absolutely killer, punchier than anything but still crystal clear. The gain knob has fantastic range to it, none of this horrible overdriven preamp sound you get with a lot of solid state units, it just seems to break up nicely..up to a point . The Microtubes engine is as I expected, fan-bloody-tastic, but the Tone knob is a very cool addition. The circuits differ from the pedals in that they lack the Attack and Grunt switches, the tone knob mainly deals with the Attack, purely off my interpretation of it I would guess the Grunt is hardwired to the Fat setting on the pedals, but it could be Raw. The head that has made way for this, Tecamp Puma, was superb but this has something else going on that I cannot wait to explore at proper volume. And I have to wait until Monday before I can rehearse with the band
3. Following the acquisition of a certain bass amplifier, this incredible unit is now up for sale. My original had a fault and had to go back to Darkglass and they sent a brand new replacement. It has been used little since then so, bar a small bit of velcro, this is the latest version of the Ultra (with the smaller switches) and is as new. This is the greatest preamp pedal in existence, in my most humble opinion. The EQ section on this version makes it extremely versatile and almost any valve like tones can be pulled out of this. Definitely not just for metal! Stock image: The Microtubes B7K Ultra features all the versatility and sonic possibilities its predecessor is known for plus amazing features: (1) A dedicated Footswitch to engage the overdrive section independently. (2) A Master volume to control the overall unit level. (3) Three way toggle switches for each mid control, with a total of 6 different mid frequencies at your disposal the B7K Ultra allows you to create and tailor your tone to perfection: From crisp, punchy clean preamp to obliterating high gain distortion, and everything in between. The B7K is an universal tone crafting machine. Price includes UK shipping, add a tenner for EU (sterling is giving you a good deal anyway! ) Cheers!
4.
cant wait for some reviews to come in, im particularly interested to hear how it sounds with the Barbikan stuff Kev as thats pretty close to what we do.
Ill let you know, rehearsal on Monday but no gig until December!
So is the head actually 900w I thought with its 20% thd rating the clean output would be considerably less???
It seems very likely this is a typing mistake in the manual, I can't see how a THD rating could be so high. One of a few I'v noticed in the manual (the Power Amp In of course does not disable the Master Volume).
5. Have to say, these Retro Barefaced cabs are finished to a much higher quality than I have seen from them before from the looks of things. Those speakers appear to be rated rather low for power handling, are they coping with the DG output well? I'd like to try them out
6. I'll check mine carefully later then, although quick sneak peak it looks dandy. Excellent to see Doug is excelling at customer service once again
7. It's here, and I now have an agonizing day at work staring at a box...
8. Hmm, you all got me looking at one of these right now. Anyone in my neck of the woods have one? (Warwickshire)
9.
Hi , I must say that as far as I heard its not possible. I heard from another Retailer who was eventually gonna have his brand that it was flat out refused when he asked.
That's odd, why not? Or does the factory in Poland build for several brands, a bit like a European Cort factory or something? I would understand that.
10. Bugger it, watching it anyway. That's quite a collection of Stingrays!! Also quite interested in his pedalboard and how much of the drive he gets from his old Ampeg heads.
11. Before I delve into 20 minutes of rig talk (although it does sound quite a good way to spend the evening) does he talk about his Barefaced setup? I'm interested to hear why he made the switch from Ampeg.
12.
Have you seen this one at the Gallery? http://thebassgaller...s-5-string.html Somehow I expect this one IS genuine.
Haha one for a collector, but that is at least the same bass Jack used!
13.
I have never seen that.
Neither have I.
14. Aside from the fact that Jack Bruce did not play fretted Warwicks or FNA models that I'v heard of, £8,500?!!
15.
I bought used off here so no warranty but we'll see. It's genuinely a lovely thing, I'm really impressed, especially at the price point. It feels and sounds like a premium amp, and the cab is a lovely compact thing. They've been around for a couple years now and I don't know of any common problems for this model. (there was an earlier, first amp Behringer made that had a bad rep). Had more of a play with the valve preamp and it gets a lovely noise out of my Precision..
Even better, sounds more than promising! Would be interesting to know what Class D module they have in there...
16. Ignoring the nonsense power rating (why do it??) that looks quite tidy. Although, looking at Thomann, is the price cheap enough for what it is? If its similar in rating to a 500w head, it has some serious competition at £100 or so more. Be interesting to see how reliable it is, decent warranty hasn't it?
17. Sold Rich a rather smashing little amp, we came to a deal we were both happy with and it arrived in one piece, hurrah! Cheers bud.
18. The curtain twitching for the UPS van begins...
19. Kev

So... Wal, eh?

No question, my Wal was the best sounding instrument I ever did own. Sadly, it was only a 4 string and a few aspects of is playability didn't agree with me and as such I moved her on. Finances have since significantly worsened so I cannot see me being able to afford a 5 string version anytime soon. The 4 string models are more love/hate than people may expect; the neck is a v shape, the fretboard edges are not rolled and can feel quite sharp and the pickups make for difficult thumb anchoring. All of those disagreed with me, however the five string model has a C neck and thumb-friendly pickups, but I try not to think about that! I don't think any model is in any way fugly. The new MK3 is definitely my least favourite, the MK2 shape is just perfect!
20.
Are they shipping straight away?
At a guess, I would say preorders will ship tomorrow. Ordering the one in stock now will be guaranteed for Thursday, so imagine preorders will be the same, unless they did get dispatched today, which seems unlikely now. EDIT: All stock now gone, but apparently they are getting more in a week? DG must have really increased production if they can meet another shipload so soon, I don't any other british dealers have their initial stock yet...
21. I don't usually like white, but with the wood grain visible like that it is gorgeous, and wenge is definitely the way to go for Dingwall necks! This is a stunner and a great price for such a spec.
22. Andertons stock is in. No dispatch notification yet, but it appears they still have 1 left! No shipments until late November from what Doug was saying, so order quick anyone who is still debating!
23.
Hmm. Sounds good... It's only money... Again... I just don't need that much power though... Then again, with the falling pound... Decisions, decisions!
Switchable power, stick it in 2 ohm mode is 900w its too much for your cabs 350w at 8ohm that way! I have owned multiples of all Darkglass equipment released, I had a couple of issues with the ones built by 3Leaf, but all products built in Finland have been 100%
