The singer is very aware...he was visibly angry last night on stage. The guitarist not so...he's good friends with the drummer, they share a flat, so he's ignoring it tbh. Some serious thought required.

Well, we're not doing anything till after the New Year, so I'm going to think over whether I want to be in a band with the drummer. He's the weakest link and I'm not sure I'm on for another months-long search for another one if we sack him. On top of this, my health's taken a sudden turn for the worst and it's made me start to seriously wonder if I actually have the energy to do all the band stuff any more...it may be time to hang up my gig shoes. We'll see.

We all agree to meet at the venue at 8. Drummer turns up at 8.50, claiming he's not drunk. Just one pint he says. Yeah, right...he looks a bit altered to be one pint in. Cocks up intro to the first song three times so we bin it and play on. Every song slows down. I know we play for almost nothing. I know we've no serious fans, it's just us having fun, but take it seriously. I do. I put hours, which I do not have, into learning and getting songs right. And I do my best to play them right on the night. Jeesh. Just...jeesh.

Just came home from a bloody awful gig. Terrible monitoring, idiot doing the sound who looked and acted battered. Just one of those 'why are we bothering' affairs. "Hey ho", ahpook muttered through clenched teeth.

Played The Beehive, Bow, London for the second time this year. There was a slight 'command performance' vibe as the singer's folks very visiting from Mexico and were in attendance. Bit of a strange vibe between the drummer and guitarist before the gig, but they've just started to share a house so maybe there's been some domestic strife going on behind the scenes Good gig, we all played well and more there than we expected, which was nice as the place was empty when we arrived. Slight gripe that our drummer needs to speed up his setting up as both in soundcheck and just before we started as he was fiddling for ages...slightly embarrassingly slow when we took the stage tbh. Hey ho. I got a couple of nice bass props from punters which was very nice as it's not often that happens. Yay ! Had a lovely time chatting to the singer's parents (via Mrs. Singer as shared language was an issue) after the gig before taking a slightly piddly Mrs. Pook home who brought a work buddy along and got quite into her cups over the evening No pics to hand, sadly.

Pretty sure when I did some work on my Starfire, which was years ago (bass now long gone), eveything went through the f-holes. Not sure about the tubing though....try Ebay or your preferred online retailer ? HTH

I came across this stroke of genius - using what looks like surgical tubing to hold onto the pots, which makes swift work of getting them through the holes...wish I'd seen this before !
