  1. You will get different tones if you do some switching with the coils in the pickup, but splitting a humbucker or wiring it from series to parallel can mean a drop in volume - just something to consider. Can you with these pickups ? I can't quite make it out from the photos - looks like you could have two hots and two grounds from each pickup ? Sorry - I trod on my reading glasses yesterday !
  2. Cooor ! Camel and Gong...and it's my birthday that week. Get in !
  3. Next week John Cazale does Letchworth !
  4. I once got asked by a chap a gig 'What note are you playing?" He was quite obviously well on a chemical journey to some other, very ecstatic plane (it was a sort of space rock/techno band, so not unusual for our gigs). "G! ", I shouted back to him. He danced off, arms in the air, gurning a huge smile, shouting "I f$$king love G !"
  5. You could always fit an after-market active circuit. Artec, as mentioned by @PaulThePlug - good shout ! - do some very economical active circuits you could drop in, space allowing. I've used a couple - they're very good for what you pay for them. Cheap enough to try as an experiment, perhaps ? Just to confuse options further !
  6. According to the spec, it looks like the pickups are passive so removing the active circuitry and going 100% passive should be fairly straightforward.
  7. Agreed. I think that is one the most beautiful basses I've seen. The way the curves all work together is....swoonsome. And get well soon @haimesy
  8. For some reason I can't get the word 'Ampegging' out of my head 🤪
  9. Good point about the enclosure - well worth mentioning, thanks.
  10. Lovely...I've quite fancied of these too. You have a champion brother !
  11. I built a Pumpernickel and although I'll admit I'm not a compressor afficiando it really is a fantastic pedal. The Shalltechnik kits are superb quality - I've built quite a few. If you fancy building one then I'd get in sharpish - very sadly Shalltechnik have shut up shop, so the kits in places like Musikding may very well be the last.
  12. Maybe it's for the brown note.
  13. I would and indeed do. As has been been said above - better to be in a band than not, and if something more up your street comes along then go for it.
  14. If I were him I'd be saving those shots for OnlyFans
  15. Very much so - it looks like something from AliExpress. A Jazz Bass' harmony of curves is one of the things that I really like about them, and for me, that F-hole just ruins it. Ruins it like a bit of poop on your favourite biscuit.
  16. I know this feeling My twopenneth ? Plenty of people who play bass don't ever get round to learning to read music...I'm not saying it's not a wonderful skill, but there's a lot of fun to be had whether you decide to learn or not. It's always something you can come back to if getting to grips with the bass itself takes up what time you have at the moment. Good luck !
  17. Bought an EMG pickup from Damon. Smooth as silk and a lovely chap to deal with.
  18. Thank you - it's making me smile every time I play through it.
  19. It hasn't so far, and getting sunglasses is a proper pain.
  20. Darn, I meant II. Overzealous with the 'I' key :)
  21. I keep coming back just to ogle. Somebody buy this before I find myself on shipping sites, estimating prices and hoping Mrs. Pook forgets about the amp I just bought
  22. Thoughtful girlfriend !
  23. Double post.
  24. Reassuring in this crazy mized-up world in which we live in.
  25. That's incredible. His bass sounds exactly like the slap bass sound on my old Roland JV-880. 🥴
