if DHA costs are a little too high for your needs, red onion solutions do great custom loopers/blenders
plus the one. i recently got one of their single loop switches and it's great. i've just aksed them to build me a footswitch for my ampeg too. great people and very reasonable too. if you mail them they may even be able to build you a loop/boost pedal.
2.
I would check if the cab has any passive internal electronics, such as a crossover or other filtering. If these are being used to limit what frequencies are being sent to your driver, they may only be rated for 150W and fry before the new driver does. If the external socket is just a straight cable onto the driver terminals, then all should be fine.
good point, although there's no filtering or x-over in the cab.
3. i'd go for the gotoh. less work installing them and to my mind, although the badass might be beefier, they look awful.
4.
It shouldn't be a problem, unless the glue joints have weakened over time.
i guess if i decide to do it it might be an idea to beef up the joints. ta !
5. my cowpoke (which still qualifies as a precision ?) is 43mm (1.75")
6. i've got an old HH 15" bass cab that i've had sitting around for a while - i never really use it as it's only rated at 150W. i'm thinking of upgrading the speaker to something in the region of 400W. would there be any issues with bunging a much larger speaker in a box only rated for 150W (speaker parameters and box tuning aside)
7. nice jag !
8. not fab tbh. our first gig out of london - played a club upstairs from a pub in the queens hall in nuneaton played to about 15 people, although the two drunk women who were reeling around the room danced a bit. just 'one of those'...you gotta play the sh*te ones or there'd be no good ones...
9. lovely. although i'm still seriously thinking about selling my 79 sabre.
10. are you plugging it into the same wall socket every time ? maybe it's something on the supply side ?
11. i don't have a party piece...in face if someone asks me 'to play something' on bass i generally mutter and don't.
12. sorry - although i'm interested it looks like £££'s going to be more tight athan i thought this month
13. i'd be interested...maybe in a week or two
14.
Not studying harder, faster, longer and more productively when I had the time.
plus the one. not spending my time on the dole practising more...and then there's the matter of the 70s fender precision i sold.
15.
Erm never had that problem, maybe your's was faulty
hmmm...perhaps it was. oh well...it's gone to the great studio in the sky now.
16.
it took alot of experimenting and time to find a setting that i liked, there was a fine line between 'too much' and 'too little'.
do you find that as the signal level drops, the overdrive sounds suddenly disappears ?
17.
Im relatively new to this effects malarky, over the past couple of months ive built up a board, i use my sansamp BDDI 75% of the time, and my ODB-3 for when i want a more metallicy sound.
you know, the more i read how much people like the sound of the sansamp's overdrive the more i think that mine must have had something wrong with it. i never got on with the sound of mine... not a problem any more though.
18. shame you're not nearer to me...i've got a 'santa ana' acoustic bass i'd quite happily part with for ~£60
19. how is it for a 'just-about-overdriving' sound ?
20. up for grabs, my behringer power amp that used to be part of my bass rig before i replaced it with a soundtech ps802. i'm not really happy about shipping it, so it's up for collection from north london (tottenham to be exact) sounds great, good condition...a slight scuff here and there from being mounted in a rack case. gigged about half a dozen times make me an offer (a reasonable one please !!)
21.
Does he not mean that he's after a bass in a similar vein to the Fender Bass VI, which was strung the same as a normal guitar, but tuned an octave down?
kinda what sprung to my mind
22.
Just wondering, it's a long shot, but would you by any chance trade that little big muff for a well used behringer bass overdrive pedal, behringer chromatic tuner pedal (almost new) and a master of puppets guitar tab book (good condish)? I need to get rid of them so if you want them let me know... (just so you know the tab book is £20 new, the OD is £15 new and the tuner is £20 new)
thanks for the offer, but it's the dosh i'm after really. the big muff is prolly being sold to a friend of mine and the aria's about to head the way of ebay. cheers for the interest though
