  1. You will know rock by its smell, not by the hat it is wearing.
  2. I've heard if him, he wrote for The Village Voice, IIRC. He was known for his one-line, often acerbic reviews. I used to read the NME years ago and they had some of the most hyperbolic reviews of albums and band sometimes, but I always took it all with a pinch of salt.
  3. I think your avatar would look good against the finish.
  4. The D'addario Fender VI set is a close match to the strings the Hellcat comes with (90-75-56-44-34-24), the low E and A are a little lighter but the rest are spot on.
  5. I thoroughly enjoyed that. 👍 Nicely played and a suitably spooky room.
  6. Agreed. If they had fun doing it then that's great. Good for them.
  7. I got the 226 - I've been on a fanless quest for a while, so it ticked my boxes very well. I run it through an SWR 2x12.
  8. I got one of these a week or so ago and I'm very impressed. The EQ is nice-sounding, and very flexible with the 2-band tweakable mids, it's also very quiet (no fan and very low background noise). Only house use so far, but it's a nice little unit. The only downside, as Mr. Bass-Lessons says, is that the buttons on the the front feel a bit cheap, but it makes up for that with the lovely sound.
  9. Middle-ageing bass players with bad backs and aching joints
  10. That ad's great. If you roll your mouse up and down over the thumbnails you can make Lemmy dance
  11. I was thinking more Jason King myself.
  12. I can't think of a single overrated bass player. I can think of plenty of very famous bass players whose playing I don't care for, but none who are actually in some way bad at playing bass whilst everyone thinks they're great.
  13. Honey, I Shrunk the Rig.
  14. "Doctor's leaving for the holiday season Got crystal ice picks, no gift for the gab And in the parking lot, is the sedan he bought He never, he never complains when it's hot" A couple of couplets from 'Grounded' by Pavement. Pavement were always brimming over with superb lyrics, but the opening verse of this tale of the trials of well-heeled medical staff has a wonderful turn to it.
  15. Your bass on acid
  16. No, I feel the same way about musicians dying. It's a shame, as it is when anyone dies, but that's about it.
  17. I only have a Turbo Rat these days so I can't A-B them, but it sounds pretty bang-on to me I've tried many pedals that were trying to do what this does. I'm very happy.
  18. I think you need some Moody Blues. Yes could have been as good as the Moody Blues if they'd really tried.
  19. It seems to me that most people play bass better than me. But I'm the one with the bass round my neck, not them. (Sorry for the typo !)
  20. I know what you mean. I'm very partial to some prog, but Yes just don't do it for me. They sound like a band trying hard to sound like somebody else, but failing...it's the only way I can describe it.
  21. Blue Collander Tremond. The Spark Booster is a joy. I ordered a Blue Collander Tremond last night. I've had a few Rats-with-blends over the years, but this one sounds like it's been done right.
