1. Bump and 10% price reduction
2. The new HK elements system is incredible. It's also modular so you can add on bits as you need them. I've got one it's loud and sounds great Down side is that it's effing expensive
3. 2.
4. I'm not really interested in trades for any other pedals, but could be interested in powered monitors, headphone amp SM58 mics or a decent bass pre amp. With cash going either way as appropriate. Ta. Rob
5. SOLD - I'll miss it though It pains me to sell this as I really like it, but as I've never gigged it and only use it very occasionally when I remember I own it then I should probably sell it on. I'd rate the condition as very good, almost brand new. There is a slight dent in the box (first pic) smaller than a thumb nail, but beyond that nothing that I can see is wrong with it. It's always been kept in the box with a sachet of silica gel (to keep the electronics free of any moisture). It comes with all the original 'case candy' - that is the instruction booklet, Sound Library CD (which has never been opened), other paper work, and a 1/4" to 3.5 mm adaptor. It doesn't include a power supply (one didn't come with it), it takes a regular Boss one or 6AA batteries. Here's some pics that I've just rolled off on the mobile phone. Thanks Rob
6. I'm going to sell my Jack 210's soon - because they're to loud for what I need! I really like Bill's designs for bass. Always sound good, and surprisingly loud.
7. You should check out some Rocco Prestia he has a plethora of right (and left) hand muting techniques he rinses that stuff, usually using the ring and pinky fingers on the right hand. I'm sure there's some of his tuition stuff on YouTube
8. Thsoe Barrel jacks always go wrong - sh*tty things. I must've replaced the one in my Yamaha half a dozen times.
9. I love that Lonnie Liston Smith track, and the whole album infact, but if you listen carefully the timing on the percussion is all over the place, Tsk tsk
10. Robbie's done you proud that looks great. Bet you can't wait
11. Looks absolutely fantastic, can't wait to see more pics, and maybe some sound clips ?
12. I just thought that the ramp was a nice USP compared to other Fender clones (I know it's not an exact clone, but you know what I mean) in the same price bracket. If it's shipping with an unattached clear scratch plate could you be really cutting edge and have the ramp moulded into the scratch plate? That would be really unique
13. looking great, and those O rings are really nice.
14. looks great, but what happened to the ram I thought that was a really unique and novel feature in this price bracket.
15. This
... If you're not keen on raising your action then you may want to try plucking nearer the bridge as the string tension is higher there, resulting in less string oscillation and less chance of fret clatter. As others have mentioned, ensuring that your amp is loud enough will mean you dig in less to get the volume you want.
and this...
Have a look at the angle your fingers are striking the strings- if you're getting excessive fret noise you might be hitting the strings down, as opposed to across them (think of the direction your pick moves in- across and "through" the string, not down towards the pickups).
When I saw Steve Harris play (you were naming Iron Maiden songs right?) he plays incredibly lightly, but monster fast and consistent.
16. I saw this bass in the flesh when I went around to Robbie's the other day. I have to say it looks great, the neck and fretboard are particulalry stunning. I also feel that the pics are a little misleading, as they don't show just how neat and compact the body shape really is. You're going to be a very lucky man.
17. nice groove very Rocco
18. Jake, you're a legend thank you. I'll have a go at sorting it in the morning. It would be fair to say that the finish is not in as good condition as it was though
19. On one of his DVD he explains all about his 'hyper bass' as I understood it he has detuners on each machine head they drop a string down a tone. AFAIK they take a string down a tone, i.e. E to drop D. He then has a similar device on the bridge. The combo of the two detuners means that for each harmonic he strikes he can effectively get four different notes.
20. So my cat knocked over my upright a few days ago - my fault really as I'd just rested it against a sideboard. Anyway it landed on it's front and the bridge came out - but messy really. I've done my best to position the bridge and put it back where it was as there were some dust marks on the bass. However now the intonation is all over the place. Has anyone got any tips on how to position a bridge? Or is it a job for a pro, in which case does anyone know anyone in Berkshire, or how much it should cost? Thanks
21. Looks good, that'll be a great stage bass.
22. Looking great, so much neater than mine.
23. I recently got to use GK rig as supplied back-line on a tour, I was really impressed with the sound, warm and punchy, very capable EQ section and setting the tone flat gave a good sound "out of the box". Usually on tours I wind up with an Ampeg SVT rig, and I'd pick the GK any time. I enjoyed it so much it's got me toying with the idea of replacing my Eden.

Jack 210
Hope Gilmour doesn't mind us taking over his thread like this...
not at all, i feel my build diary is done, it's good to get others views and opinions

Jack 210

I couldn't comment on the quality of the Piezos next to such experienced builders but they sound fine to me. I really liked the sound of the Omni 10 piezos and all, but as I've mentioned above the Jacks do require a lot more EQing. As a bass cab they work well, I'm still fine tuning them for PA. Dave Perry did a good Comp Horn Vs Piezo comparison ages ago that was very informative, but I can't find the link. I'm sure He'll be along shortly...
