Hey, Sorry re-reading the post it is a little short on details (like the speakers!). It has all the premium recommended drivers at the time of building, which are: Eminence Kappalite 3015LF (woofer) Eminence Alpha 8MR (midrange) Eminence 1001 HF (top end) GIven the price hike in neodymium speakers recently I think the drivers alone would cost around the same as I'm asking. If anyone else has questions do feel free to ask, I'm aware this is a less common bass cab, but the sound it produces is immense (which I'm sure anyone who's used one will testify to).

As I've been gigging for a couple of months now with my EAD 212 I feel comfortable parting with my awesome BFM Omni 15 TB. I'm sure most of you know about this, details of the cab are on Bill's page here. (mine is the Tall Boy featured on Bills page ) Essentially it's a full range cab that will go very low and very loud. The cab itself is in good condition, everything works great and as it should. It was built with the full three way crossover with a compression horn (some of the bass cabs utilise Piezos tweeters) in an ideal world it could do with re-carpetting (I'm happy to do this at cost) but I certainly wouldn't be ashamed of showing up to a gig with it. I'm more than willing for people to try it out and happy to answer any questions you may have. There's a detailed build diary here. I'm asking £270 (that's less than the component parts will cost you) for this, probably best if it's collected but I will arrange a courier at cost. Here's an old photo, if there's interest I'll take some more recent ones) _____________________________________________________________ I'm also going to be selling off my Jack 210's (I may break them down into component parts if you want some cheap drivers.)

Nah, I had a Moog Bass Murf for a while, far to complicated for my mind (and I didn't really like the sound!). I'm probably going to be very conservative and go for a SFX Thumpinator and maybe some sort of synth pedal. But the `Qtron Mod first.
After years of using only a Tuner I've put a board together as it was annoying me plugging in all the separate pedals each gig. The board itself is a DIY effort that's come out quite nicely, there's a build diary here.

Yeah - i'll take that back if it collapses on it's 1st gig!
Well I've done a few rehearsals with this and gigged it for the first time last night. It didn't fall apart, and made set up much easier, all in all mission accomplished. Now I just need to find something to fill that bit of space... One thing I've noticed is the volume increase when I turn the QTron on, has anyone here ever tried to mod one with a volume control?

This is exactly why I stopped playing with a pick years ago. FWIW the quick fix that we found was to buy a pile of felt plectrums and record with those. Took away a lot of the top end attack. Although costs a bloody fortune as they fall apart in no time, and leave your bass covered in felt dust I only did this for one recording.

I've one of the first production EAD foundation 212's and have to say it is a great cab. Sounds very articulate and clear with an authoritative low end. In terms of finish (which has come up repeatedly in this thread) the EAD finish is second to none. To me in terms of finish quality it's second to none, it's every bit as good as my HK PA system. I'm really keen to see how the 112 turns out, I know Dave is close to having it finalised. Obviously in real life it's less blurry than my camera phone pics!
Thats a great board for a DIY job. Seriously seriously impressive mate! You could start selling them to the BC community.
That's very kind. We'll see how it lives up to gigging first!
Try The Meters "Cissy Strut", in fact most of their numbers. George Porter was an awesome player.
He still is an awesome player, I think they're touring as the Funky Meters these days.

Rift instead of Riff ! Grrrr

Love the way this bass is developing. Which one of Mike's body shapes is it? (I'm guessing groovemeister?)
Listen to the horn players complaining around 20 - 30 seconds in...
Quality - B from now on

It's much easier to transpose on bass or guitar than it is on horns. On bass it's just a case of shifting the same shape a couple of frets whilst on horns it's going to mean a whole new fingering. I get why they want to do it as it does make life easier Of course that said when I used to be in a jam band we used to pick keys just to annoy the horns
You a dhol man then? Do you know Gurjit and Rav Diamondcut?
haha my Dhol skills are very limited to say the most, I was bass player with them four the last four years. He's got a whole new band at the moment, something he does every now and then but apparently they're sounding awesome at the moment. I miss those big gigs, but not the hearing damage 5 dhols inflicts!
Sheema
Silddx, are you playing for Transglobal? I was playing with Johnny and TDF for about four years so I wonder if we've probably crossed paths at some point?

The DiMarzio ultra Jazz are noiseless. AFAIK they're basically wired like a split coil humbucker, and sound really good on it too. I'm sure there are other manufacturers who do the same. As for fitting it in your old pickup casing, it may be possible, but for that it'd be worth investigating just getting some pups custom made, someone like Chistoph Dolf at bass culture pickups (http://bassculture.de/) would do that sort of work, as I'm sure would many of the UK makers.

It's quite normal to have to get PLI if you're doing a lot of these gigs, but a right PITA if you're only doing them from time to time or a s a favour to a friend. I'm pretty sure our PLI was less that £200, we were able to name all of the band members deps and guests we might have, so there's about 15 names on the list even though we go out as an eight piece. my wife looked after it as she works in and arts centre and was able to ask the performers there who they use. If you're struggling drop me a PM and I'll see if I can find the info.
Just built a BFM Jack 12 , haven't used the Pulse piezo's , I used these http://cpc.farnell.com/_/mpt-016/piezo-tweeter/dp/LS02367
I've built quite a few of his cabs, they're all very good. (I'm actually selling my Jack 210's as I don't need 5 bass cabs!) There's a few detailed build diaries on my website www.gilmourvisualnoise.co.uk I actually built a little jig for my melded arrays and cut them with a hand saw - they came out fine EDIT Link here Anyway the consensus is that the above Piezos are the ones to get and that the others just don't sound as good. It's annoying as about two years ago the Piezos just doubled in price! However I have a pile of unused Piezos sitting in my project cupboard that I'm happy to sell at a very good price as they will never get used. PM me if you're interested. If not do spend the little extra on the MPT1016 Piezos

I used to really struggle with Rhythms, and then I went on a Cuban percussion course and spent a lot of time reading nothing but rhythms, really, really helped. After a while you just start to recognise shapes and figures and know what they're going to sound like.
