  1. Maybe their web guys are still off for Christmas? Or maybe they bumped up the ex. VAT price and hoped that people won’t realise why?
  2. Yeah, they’ll be showing the prices ex. VAT now. So, like Bunion said, add 20% plus handling fee from the carrier plus import duty (depending on how expensive a thing you’re buying).
  3. The Tom DeLonge Gibson ES 333 has been out of production for a decade and has been steadily going up in price for the last few years. Now they easily sell for £5000+. As they were discontinued last year the Epiphone version is now selling for well over £1000 too.
  4. Dee Dee was not blessed with brains. However I still believe he was a musical genius.
  5. I bought a Darkglass pedal from them a couple of months ago. No issues whatsoever. Even got a choose a free (crappy) gift with my order.
  6. I’m pretty sure this is just loud jazz.
  7. Dude needs to get a quieter mouse.
  8. At first I thought it was a gag and she was going to play this
  9. This is how the music industry works. I have absolutely no doubt that this would still have been released even if Lemmy, Phil and Eddie were still here.
  10. If you boil them first and fit them while they’re still soft they’ll stay in that shape as they cool.
  11. Never heard that one before!
  12. I was wondering that same thing.
  13. I agree. Unless you’re a big band then a 40-50 min set is usually plenty. For punk shows a 40 min headline set with no encore is pretty standard. King Adora used to play 25 min headline sets and it was great! Though I haven’t seen them live for a long time, I’ve had more than enough of watching Foo Fighters’ festival sets on TV that are 3+ hours long with a 20 minute jam in the middle of every song.
  14. PMT have a stupid policy where if you order something over the phone you can only speak to the person who took your order in the event that you have any issues. If that person is on holiday, or just has a day off, when you ring they won’t let you speak to anyone else. Infuriating.
  15. I honestly thought his collection would maybe 2. 3 at most.
  16. I got a Darkglass Alpha Omega pedal but I don’t remember whether it was in the new year or the very end of last year. I did buy a Jaguar bass from Black 35 though, which is yet to be built. What happens if it doesn’t arrive until next year? Does that mean it doesn’t count for 2020 and I’m still on the wagon?
  17. No. I read about a Frank Turner show a few nights ago at a smallish venue that was open at around 20% capacity (with social distancing) as an experiment. IIRC it was a 1200 cap venue with around 200 people in. The venue said that they didn’t cover their operating costs even before paying the artist. So I don’t think that playing for free is going to help venues stay afloat. Reduced capacity gigs just don’t seem financially viable for anyone.
  18. If you’re talking Fenders there’s some info with a little illustration here.
  19. I believe Nicky Wire writes the Manics’ lyrics (the ones that aren’t Richey’s) while JDB writes the music.
  20. I’ve had similar before. Emailed a few times with quick responses then nothing for a couple of weeks. When it got past the time he said they’d be done and I still hadn’t heard anything I emailed him to see if everything was ok. Didn’t get a response from Neil but I did get an automatic email saying my strings had been dispatched a few hours later. As it isn’t an especially big company (or workshop, as Trevor said) I think he’s just a busy guy! They have a very good reputation, though, so I don’t think you need to be worried.
  21. There’s a song on the new Slipknot album called Spiders which is in 7/8 IIRC.
  22. 50-110 I just find it easier to play with the bit of extra tension that they give in standard tuning. Plus I’m quite heavy-handed. I do know a guy who plays 65-125 (i think) in standard tuning on a ‘50s P. I think he’s mad!
