1. I use these and have done for a few years. Im not aware of any mismatch in tension, i just like the little bit of extra growl they give chords. Shoudnt imagine your Bigsby will know much has changed. A good set imho.
2. Surprised it lasted this long. Well done
3. This should fly. If i wasnt cashed out id bite your hand off. If my Vox sells.......
4. More of a top selection than favourites, too many to go on, i do love a good Biog 1) Keith Richards 2) Shaky - Neil Young 3) Lemmy 4) Dear Boy / Keith Moon - Tony Fletcher 5) Frank Zappa - Barry Miles +1 for the Glen Hughes book, not much into his coifurred image of late but his talent is undeniable. Oh, Mustaine is a good insight too. Could go on........

6. A bit early for me to have paid attention too but he was much lauded by some of my fave country artists who are mainly The Highwaymen - Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Kris Kristofferson. A hell of a good innings for a hellraiser. RIP
7. So stunning i had to offer a bump.
8. The amazing thing about this rig is that its even able to run another cab!!! Should more air moving be required.
9. Well Ive done it. Ive decided and ordered the TC Electronic RH 750 with 2 x RS212 cabs.. Should be here next week...exciting times.
10. This has been a great help guys. Many thanks I'm in the process of drawing up a shortlist taking price, power and portability into consideration. Looks very much like a visit to Bassdirect is on the cards. Mark has a great range up there, just got to keep remembering why I'm doing this and not coming back with a Krampera stack and flaming credit card At the mo its between the TC RH 750 + 2 cabs (210/212) or Genz Benz Streamline 6.2 + 2 cabs (210/210) Any thoughts on the Genz stuff?? Will keep you posted
11.
Holiday Parks are great fun. All the staff are good fun and welcoming and often have decent rigs and technicians. I've done a couple of summer tours of Pontins and get regular work at Bunn Leisure in Selsey. Normally the crowd will be made up of young parents with young children and older people. Your standard up-to-date pop will go down very well (Black Eyed Peas, Girls Aloud, One Direction, Katy Perry etc). Maybe slightly more clubby stuff (Pitbull, LMFAO, Beyonce, new Maroon 5, Katy B, Jessie J) is worth a run out. I found that rock music tends to kill the vibe because people (read: kids) can't dance to it. The idea is to keep the kids happy because then the parents will put more money behind the bar. Even Queen and the Beatles I've never felt went down very well. A few novelty songs will work; Bob the Builder, King of the Swingers etc. Anyway, as someone mentioned, you really need to run this thing like clockwork. Your sets need to be exactly 45 minutes long/60 minutes long. You need to be soundchecked by 6 o'clock and you need to be professionally turned out in uniform or dress code (that is if you're looking for repeat work!). You need to provide the sound/lights engineer with a stage plan and a setplan so they can plan stage washes and displays etc. But most of all you need to have fun. Don't treat holiday park gigs like a function or a pub gig. You're there strictly to keep people buying drinks and you do that by getting ladies and kids dancing. They don't want incredible musicianship or artistic credibility; they want good tunes, performed well. Truckstop
Pretty much a survivors guide here, nicely written Sir
Which one is best EVER... eenie meenie miney mo It literally would be a case of doing that between the Streamer (Stage I/II/Ltd/all forms), Dolphin and Infinette... the Thumb is a bass that I've not ever gelled with!
2nd from left is simply divine!!! If you need a huge Ashdown rig, ive got one to trade Jon. Id even deliver :-)
13. Ive played a few holiday park type gigs over the years and found them to be a bit of a blast. We used to open with a kids classic that they could sing along or scream to in a nice groovy rhythm. Think " no more monkeys jumping on the bed " and then slip into yur own set. Never failed for us, obviously we changed the song, Boris the Spider works a treat. John Entwistle had a great way of getting onto the kids level ( no Townshend jokes please) Everyone out for a good time and keep a few rockers for the dads to air guitar to at the end. Entertainment, get called back. Enjoy

Id like to add a Vampyre LTD to the collection. Saying that, I'm quite happy with my weird Warwick lot at the mo. 1) Buzzard ltd 2005 2) Stryker mahogany 3) Dolphin pro 1 Just waiting for the right Vampyre to come along.

17. Hi folks, Ive found myself having to change my beloved Ashdown rig. :-( its the CTM 300 with the CL610 and is simply devine. Problem is hat i cant afford roadies so i need a portable rig that offers similar services with as little compromise as possible. I see the TC boys have got the RH 750 which is linkable to lots of cleverly designed cabs. I was thinking of moving towards a TC RH 750 with a pair of RS 212 cabs. This rig looks like it could deliver quite a kick with the opion of adding even more cabs if required. Has anyone else found themselves in this situation that can offer advice or suggest other rigs? Due to where im based, gtting around to try these rigs isnt viable. All ideas, thoughts and input welcome Cheers Col

19. Played a wedding in the national botanical gardens of wales. A very posh do, lovely audience, very responsive and potentially 4 or 5 more wedding bookings. A good night all round, tried the new basses out and they were magnificent. Shame the set is so standard, however many arrangement twist and tuns we put in,its cabaret isn't it. Good to play and get paid though. No chance of taking the Buzzard or Stryker out soon :-/ New project in the pipeline should be real cool, looking forward to that kicking off, whilst I'm grateful for the Wedding work it just ot my bag. Thankfully the guys in he band are great fun make it a real breeze. A good night all round.
20. Apologising when youve screwed up is easy, just take it on the chin. I may have alienated some which is very regretful. I'll hopefully get the opportunity to regain their trust and respect. I'll be a bit embarassed for a while but it will pass. Thanks for understanding.
21. Ian, Just one other thing, my PM facility has disappeared. Did i hear group hug?? I'm welsh mun, we dont do things like that ;-)
22.
I really loved reading this. Then you said Ian's a top man. That was a shock to be honest, me always having thought he meant it when he said he's a bottom. Kudos, Col. best,d bert
Ha ha ha... Thanks folks
23. Some of you may or may not have been aware of an outburst I had on here yesterday. I'd just like to apologise to all involved and retract my comments which were made due to a misunderstanding. I over reacted and things escalated beyond all sense. It was a bad day, what more can I say. Ive discussed the matter with the moderators and am now going to maintain my membership and interact much as I have over the past 6 years. We all get off days, yesterday was one of mine. Big Apologies to the good ship Basschat and all who sail in her. I'd particularly like to thank Ian ( icastle ) who was the target of my vitriol. He's been an absolute gent through the whole nonsense. Top man Ian, next round on me;-) Cheers Col
