1. I had the very good fortune to have a little play with this on Sunday up at Moffat. Now, I can't play sixers really, I get lost very quickly but HOLY sh*t that's a very nice bass. Congratulations.
2. I had a really good look at this when I was up at Alan's last weekend speccing up more ACGs for myself. At first I couldn't believe my eyes (see, I've owned Lazarus since Alan resurrected it) but then clearly it's a recurve SC shape and, most obviously, left handed. It looks great, it really does, and I'm sure you're going to be absolutely thrilled by it.
3.
looks like twill be great.
I'm pretty certain I saw this one when I was up in Alan's workshop speccing my fifth and sixth ACGs last weekend. Looked very nice indeed.
4.
QUOTE (Scoop @ Apr 17 2010, 06:06 PM) The quoted price is what I think it's worth. Your opinion on the subject doesn't matter The fact that it's not selling means that the opinion was probably correct. Also if I remember correctly Machinehead couldnt sell a number of Roscoes and blew them out for around £1200. The philosphy of selling gear on this site has always been that buyers and sellers are fair to each other. Just my opinion and I'm aware that it doesnt matter...
Couldn't comment on the £1200 at Machinehead remark. If that's what they were selling them for after I bought mine then that's what they were selling them for. It's certainly nothing like what I paid for this one. Machinehead is in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. I'm based in Liverpool, so it's not like I was nipping in there day after day to see what Roscoe prices were like. I apologise if your nose is out of joint; no wait, actually, I don't. This bass is worth about £2000 - that's what I'm selling it for. If you don't like the price I'm offering it at, fine by me. Don't buy it. I'll not sell for less. And if it's not selling, then I get to keep it. I'm not losing here. As for being fair to both sides. How many times have we seen very fairly priced basses receiving comments like "these sell for £2.99 at Guitar Central" (or whatever) trying desperately to force the price down? How many times have we had low ball offers which are ludicrously off mark? That's what I mean by your opinion doesn't matter. The price I'm asking is what I beleive the bass to be worth; now is that clear and fair enough for you?

Moffat Bass Bash 3
Now there is a surprise. It was Perry.
And the Moffat Bass Bash finally has its motto...
6. On my visit up to the Moffat Bass Bash I just happened to go to Alan's workshop and specced up two more ACGs for myself. This is the build thread of the pale understated fretless one. I'll do a thread on the other one when I give Alan his deposit as I wasn't able to put a deposit down on both over the weekend. Soon... The reasoning behind this build was quite simple. The two basses that Alan has built for me so far have been really loud, in your face, visual pieces. There was the scribbly spalted beech top and spalted maple fretboard of the Recurve and the feast of flaming redwood that was the Finn build. Both were very busy and Alan admitted to me that he had reservations but figured that, in the end, I'd chosen well enough to stay just the right side of taste and decency. I wanted my next four string to be a fretless and I wanted it very understated by comparison to the others. I knew, pretty much before I arrived at Alan's, which top I wanted for this, which will be another Finn 4. And I was also pretty much convinced of the wood for the body core. I wanted a nice piece of lightweight spanish cedar. I have a spanish cedar core on my redwood finn and love it for it's lack of weight. So, the top... In detail No contest. Understated, still beautifully figured, but definately understated. That's a lovely piece of masur birch. But I wasn't really sure about the contrast between this and the medium brown coloured spanish cedar. Ten seconds later I had a brainwave and asked Alan to pull out a few blanks of white limba - which can vary hugely in weight. I chose a nice lightweight one and that together with a 4mm wenge accent sorts the body. The neck is to be made from exactly the woods, in the same pattern order as my redwood finn. From the centre laminate outwards wenge, bubinga, maple (or sycamore, I'm easily pleased ). Like this... The fretboard is going to be jet black ebony with white quarter lines on the E string side (not the G). TI flats. Piezo bridge with single coil at bridge and MM sized chappy at neck. I love this stage of a build. It's exciting...

12. Buy this bass or be forced to go shopping with your special lady friend. [bump]
13. Here's a graph which explains very succinctly why you need to buy this bass. I think that explains everything very clearly. [bump]
14. As I can't think of a good excuse to bump, here's a gratuitous photograph of an angry kitty.
15.
I've always wanted a rick. There is one in a local shop, i'll go in and try one for an extended period before coming back to you. That baby blue is gorgeous.
Good idea, just be aware that Ric neck thicknesses, (not widths), can vary from ultra thin to quite clubby. Mine is medium, I suppose, and very comfortable but the neck on the one in your local shop may be completely different.
16.
Just given savings... told to buy something big and i'll enjoy... OH GOD WHAT DO I DO!
I'm the wrong person to ask, really, but I'd buy it. Give into the GAS.
17. Bump!
18. This bass will be at the Moffat Bass bash this coming weekend if anyone would like to try it out.

Moffat Bass Bash 3

Alan, sounds like you have a place or two left over for the Sunday, yes? I've asked a guitarist mate of mine based over near Scone if he wants to pop over, his son is a keen basssist and he dabbles a bit himself. Sounds like they'll both do so but they haven't confirmed yet. Name of Andrew Sinclair and, um, his son Sinclair Jnr.
20. Spectacular Peter. Good luck with the sale. You can buy with confidence, folks, Peter is one of the really good guys.
21. I'm not gigging at the moment for health reasons and although I expect that to change for the better in the months to come I thought it might be time to have a good look through my 11 strong stable of basses and make some hard decisions. I've decided to keep the essentials: My four ACGs are sacrosanct; and any future bands (if I decide I can be arsed again) insisting on "traditional" basses will be happy with my KSD Jazz or my Lakland Precision, so I'm keeping those two. That leaves the following for sale.... Rickenbacker 4003 Blue Boy Roscoe SKB3005 Schecter Stiletto Studio 4 Fretless Status Electro Mk1 Warwick Fortress One In this thread, we'll deal with the Schecter. No trades, thanks. A note to Tyre Kickers: Gosh, wouldn't it be lovely if it had frets, or more strings because I just know you'd have bitten my arm off and I already know how many of you would love it but are just too skint at the moment. Such a shame. Oh and it's neither overpriced nor underpriced. It's just priced. The quoted price is what I think it's worth. Your opinion on the subject doesn't matter. A note to genuinely interested parties: This is the only fretless I own and it's up for sale for two reasons and only two reasons. One is that I simply don't play that much fretless and two; I'm about to place an order for an ACG fretless at the Moffat Bass Bash this weekend. I barely play enough fretless to justify owning one - I certainly don't play enough to have them both. So this one is being sold. If it wasn't for the new ACG I'd be keeping this one without question. Hugely under appreciated as a manufacturer, this Schecter is a really lovely bass. The bass has been gigged (as it should be) and, mainly due to it's satin finish, has a dint and dent or two but nothing serious. There's certainly nothing which affects its playability and nothing which jumps out and bites you in the eye. *Satin honey finish* *Maple thru neck* *Rosewood Lined Fretless Fretboard* *Bubinga Top* *Mahoghany Body* *EMG Hz Pickups* *Three Band Active Preamp* *Non Original Used Hardcase* *New List Price is £849* This is yours, Ladies and Gentlemen, for the exceptional price of £345. The bass is currently on Merseyside. Paypal (as a gift), bank transfer or good old face to face cash in hand accepted. Shipping is at your expense and by your preferred courier.
