1. Seconded! I've got the BG500 and it blows me away every time. Great amps! Have an appreciative bump!
2. Also PM'd you.....
3. Hey up mate, I'll trade you for my Big Muff Bass PI if you want?
4. No worries pal!
5. This is a lovely bass! Would you be interested in a Yamaha BB424 in trade?
6. Thanks for the info guys - as always, really helpful. I've decided to book it in with a local guy who has got some excellent testimonials. I think I might bite the bullet on some new pups as well as new pots - might even stretch to a setup!
7. Hi Folks, I seem to have a small problem on my hands. The bridge pickup on my Squier VM Jazz seems to have given up the ghost. One minute it was working fine then I plugged it back in and there is just no output. I'v removed the pup from the body and also removed the control panel and can't seem to see any loose wiring - in fact, it's in all intact, as if it were new. I've had the bass for about 6 years and so I wondered if maybe it's just got to the end of its life and I need to replace it? It's currently fitted with Duncan Designed pups. Has this happened to anybody else or have any idea what the problem could be? Thanks in advance.
8. Hell yeah! it will be awesome, until I have to load it into my car.....
9. Turns out in a stroke of good fortune that a mate of mine is getting rid of a 1048 and said I could have it! It's a big weight beast but will provide an interesting cab combo!
10.
I've happily gigged with 15"s but I always felt that I was pushing a single one too much so that is why I generally used two, or a 2x15". As for adding another cab for the high end, I never felt the need for a big cab with 10"s or whatever but, and this may sound like I'm trying to sell you something that I actually am selling, the Bright Box that Trace Elliot made is IMO is just the ticket. That was a big, bassy cab with hee haw top end - I used the bright box to get the high end. I also used one with the V-type 4x12" and 2x15" cabs which were big sealed cabs
Yeah, I did see your bright Box and I have to say, I am very tempted, just can't really spare the cash at the moment! It would be perfect for what I need/want though!
11. This is great guys, thanks for your help!
12. Hello everybody, I'm currently in talks with a fellow BC'er about a trade for his Trace 1518 500w cab for my MAG 410. He has very honestly pointed out that although 1518 is a 500w cab, it's not full range, so Trace recommend that it is paired with another cab to achieve full capacity along with the highs. My question is that, with my Hartke HA3500 delivering 240w at 8ohms, will the cab deliver a decent level of volume for me to gig with, or will I have to pair it with another cab to get the full performance? Any help is much appreciated! Cheers!
13. Plus, IMO, the Squier VM or CV series are some of the best basses available in that price range. I personally wouldn't call them budget either, more affordable. I mean everybody's got a budget - if you're loaded, you might consider a £1500 bass to be budget.... if you know what I mean? It's all relative.
14. I'm always budget bassing! Currently rocking a Squier VM 70's Jazz or Yamaha BB424 through Hartke 3500 and MAG 410 cab. I wouldn't really feel comfortable having a really uber expensive rig for 2 reasons: 1) The gigs I play can be somewhat 'rowdy' and our singer is about 8 feet tall and has the coordination of a drunk 8 feet tall person and 2) If it broke or failed, I'd be gutted. Maybe that's 3 reasons?! I'm pretty attached to my rig, I mean it sounds great, but I always know that it'd be relatively cheap to repair and to replace.....
15. I've lost count of how many basses, amps, cabs and pedals I've bought and sold! I bloody love it though.... even the b-ache of having to pack up a cab in a box that's, well, not exactly bespoke! I have a running argument, with the Mrs (many running arguments actually) about the fact that she just doesn't get it. I just say, 'you never will'! I'm also pretty confident that I've broken even - I mean I've made money and lost money, but there's just something about the lure of something different....... cue Homer Simpson moment: 'Aaahhhhh, tttoooonnnnneeeee..'
16. Bought a big muff from James. Quick turnaround and excellent comms. Buy with confidence!
17. I got a BB424 off Bobby K recently and I have to say I love it! Great tone and punchy as hell. I've even started getting remarks on my tone - which is a first for me..... Really great basses and if like me, you have a limited budget, definitely worth picking up!
18. Does the £40 include postage fella?
19. Hi Folks! Having recently acquired this great little Ampeg PF-350, I've decided to move it on! Don't get me wrong, this is a quality bit of kit, producing legendary Ampeg tones in an easily transportable package. This has never been gigged and only seen home use, is in mint condition. I'm only selling due to GASing for a BB424 for sale on here, plus I tend to use my rackmounted gear for gigs and rehearsal. I'm based in Leeds and can post/deliver, not really interested in trades for this, but you could try me! Looking for £210 (purchased for £237 not a week ago!) - postage will be around £10.
20. Hi folks, I'm thinking of purchasing one of the Little Mark Black Line 250 heads as I'm keen to get something a bit more portable. I've been considering the Ampeg PF350 TC BH250 also. Seen as I've never played through one, just wondered if anybody had and what they thought of them? Cheers!
