1. So my fender Rumble 350 turns up this morning. After unpacking it from its ridiculously over sized box I go to plug it in and give it a bit of a test, only to find a foreign two pin plug kettle lead in the box but no uk one. Luckily I have a few leads languishing in my gig bag so I was able to test it. I did ring DV to complain and they will send me another one. Only a small problem I know, but I would expect a proper pre delivery inspection.
2. Its a USA neck, but the truss rod access on the body looks wrong.
3.
OK, try playing rhythm guitar without a sense of rhythm....... G.
I played bass in a band where the rhythm guitar had no rhythm, but as its his band he insisted on playing it. He also cannot tune it or play anything but basic chords.
4. I play both guitar and bass. However, to play bass properly you must have a good sense of timing. You are part of the rhythm section and must lock together with the drums. With guitar its not really that important. Thats what I tell the 'Its only got 4 strings' brigade.
5. This piece of cheese is so smelly they had to lock it away for 30 years!! And way is the singer pretending to play the bass when its obvious he cannot? 6. I,m on the lookout for a new combo, and have been looking at the Rumble 350. I dont want a heavy amp so this with its 2x10's and casters looks right for me. Has anyone used one? any opinions on these?
7. I have been using nickels for a couple of years now. I find they are brighter and easier on the fingers.
8. This technique is not new. Derek Smalls from Spinal Tap has been doing that for years.
9. Lenny Kravitz - Are You gonna go my way. I took days trying to work out the bassline under the lead guitar solo!
10. Warwick bass combo, 150 watt 8 band graphic eq. Approx 3 yrs old in good condition, apart from the carpet covering wearing in places. Recently serviced. 12. Has anyone had a go on this? Is it really helping learners? or just another Guitar Hero type of thing?? http://rocksmith.ubi.com/rocksmith/en-gb/home/
13. Theres a nice Precision next to it. Thats what you really want!!
14.
Somewhat related factoid - the famous guitar "kachunk" in Creep by Radiohead was Johnny Greenwood's attempt to spoil the song because he thought it was sh*t.
Oh? Thats the best bit in the song!
15. I saw this posted recently. A band member actually unplugged his bass and walked off stage because he didnt want to play a song because he didnt like it? It may be because I,m getting on a bit, but if we are getting paid to do a gig, then the least we can do is to remain on the stage. If people want Mustang Sally and Brown Eyed Girl etc, then its our job to give them what they want. Rant over, As you were.
16. Looks like the trolly I wheel my amp around on!
17. Theres a pub across the road The Hand And Flower, that serves reasonable food and beer. I shall be in there lunchtime before I head off to the show.
18.
Sounds like a plan!
Bear in mind that some tube lines are closed next weekend. I cant rememember which ones, although someone did post a link here somewhere.
19. My mother in law and Mrs Hobbayne didnt get it. I had to explain it to them.
20. And the bog standard Fender strings are so much better than the old cheesewire that used to pass as strings.
21. I bought my 2011 American Standard P Bass in October last year. It only needed a little tweak by the shop before they sold it to me. These new Fenders coming through now since 2008 ish, are very good indeed. The paint is a little thinner on these newer models and is easily chipped, but the playabilty is a lot better than it has been for many years!!
22. I was rehearsing last week and we were just jamming around in E with the guitars taking turns to solo when suddenly they called out 'Bass solo!' so I played this little pentatonic thing for a few bars, nothing taxing, just 5 notes. They were most impressed!!
23. I can seamlessly swap between fingers and pick without any problems. All the bassists that I aspired to when starting out. were all pick players.
