1. Looks like its gonna be a scorcher tomorrow! Make sure theres lots of piccies posted on here, and keep out the pub! Love to be there, but got a 50 mile drive down to Alton Hants, to play Elvis and Achy Breaky Heart, etc, for the old folks.
2. I remember reading somewhere about Lancaster refusing to go on tour if he had to play Margarita Time. Also he allegedly had a gammy left hand so Rossi redone all the bass parts after Lancaster left the studio on the final album.
3. Yes, I bought a Behringer 1800 combo Digital Village in Acton last year. The amp was crap, but the service was good, they even knocked a few quid off for cash.
4. Pretty sure its a Yamaha of some sort.
5. Playing my trusty 1977 Precision, alas now longer with me
6. Thin Lizzy's version of Rosalie.
7. We auditioned a drummer many years ago. We told him to learn Ticket To Ride, the Beatles song. When we got to the room we started it off and the drummer lost his way. He apologised and restarted but he still couldnt do it. I went to show him the basic beat as the bass player, and was shouted down by the guitarist who said 'Thats not right!' and promptly banged out some strange beat as the drummer stood there looking bemused. The final straw was the singer 'No, No! - youre doing it all wrong!' 'This is how it goes!' and sat down at his kit. At which point the poor chap said -'Sorry but I dont think I,m good enough for this band!' and packed up his gear and promptly walked out!!
8. I,m not bad, certainly not an expert, but I can get by with what I can do. Theres always someone better than me out there.
9. Are you looking for a small practice amp? Have a look at the Roland cube 30 watt combo.
10. Wow! didnt John Lennon change drastically in 5 years? I bet he had to update his passport Photo every 6 months!

12. Ive got one, its not brilliant but I plug the bass in and take a line in from the laptop and I can jam along with whatever i,m working on. It does what I want it do do, but as i said, its not brilliant, and also quiet pricey too!
13. That Jack White gets everywhere!!
14. This had the potential to be an +++ AWESOME +++ thread!
15.
They look the part but they aren't - in my experience. And they are not highly valued and the prices in these threads are ridiculous. If you want to buy them anyway and don't mind losing £300+ when you come to re-sell it then go right ahead. These are stupid prices.
But we cant say that on here, as its against forum rules.
16. Is that the one where a very young Amy Winehouse appears? Wembley 2004?
17. Maybe you have to set fire to it to get the full effect?
18. £770 for the most expensive Encore bass in the world!! Luckily no buyers!!
19. well, Ive reported it. May save some poor sod from being fleeced.
20. Root fifth octaves were all the rage back then!!
21. I think I have seen that before On here a while ago. The lettering on the headstock looks wrong, offset countour body on a P bass?
22.
cheers mate i'm in acton how bout you?
I used to rehearse at Survival studios in Acton years ago, is it still there??
23. I,m afraid Zappa didnt do anything for me.
24.
Play for free?
Only once mind you, the other guys in the band are up for it. Its not something I would like to do on a regular basis.
25. I have recently put together a rock/blues band playing everything from Ac/Dc to ZZ top, via Bad Company and Thin Lizzy. As the band founder, the guys are looking at me to find the gigs, something I have never had to do before!! Can anyone give me the heads up on some venues in and around London, Surrey, Berks and Bucks? I dont mind playing for free at first, just to get a foot in the door. Cheers, Hobbayne.
