1. I was chatting to the girl on the BGM stand at the LBGS and asked her if they did an ipad version of the mag and was quite surprised to find out that they did! She was aware of the problems with the ill fated ibass magazine and was quite sympathetic to those who were being left in the lurch by them. Unfortunately, I couldnt buy a subscription for the ipad edition at the stand, and therefore, did not qualify for a free t shirt!
2. Does anyone know what size screws will fit these? I ordered one from Thomann and it didnt come with any.
3. Comes with assorted springs, screws and jack socket. I,m not sure wether anything was taken out of the packet, so what yer see is what yer get.
4. I was thinking of subscribing to the ipad editions, but common decency would be to give subscribers an update on the situation, unfornuately, the silence of ibass has lost my interest.
5. Hmm. I was interested in the ipad edition, but the lack of keeping subscibers informed, and no coms leaves me no longer bothered.
6. Recently removed from my 1969 replica P bass (below) to make way for some vintage Seymour Duncan SPB 1,s As I understand it, the original basis for my project was a 1996 Korean Squier. anyone want to give me a tenner for them??
7. For that sort of dirty accusations, he almost certainly owes you a free practice at least!!
8. I find it hard to play a complex part and sing, but its nigh impossible to stop myself looking down at my fingers instead of looking at the audience.
9. Also to add to Billyapples post above, did you know that Tony Butler has disconnected his tone pots for years, and this bass is too, if you want it reconnected in his Jhs P bass, you have to specify that you want it to be? BTW billy, if you were sitting behind me, sorry for the coughing, First day out from having flu
10. I bought a T shirt for a tenner and a bottle water (small) for £2
11. Had a go on a USA 62 RI P Bass on the 'guitar guitar' stand, what a beauty! but I couldnt really hear myself above the thwackety whaketty slappers at full volume. Caught the Tony Butler masterclass, he seemed a pleasant enough chap, some great drum and bass moments with his ex Big Country drummer Mark Brezicki I was quite surprised that I could wander in without being stopped I did fess up, but the security guy must have had a right earful from his boss!
12. Seymour Duncan vintage SBP1 gives an old school p bass thump, without beefing it up like quarter pounders or similar hot pickups do.
13. While changing the battery on my stingray, Guitarist - Ooh, i never knew bass guitars ran on batteries? Me- ........(speachless).......!
14. I wont be there early, i have to drop off my Ray to Peter Cooks for a setup, but i will be in the hand and flower pub across the road having a swift half, about 1pm if anyone wants to say hello.
15. Another vote for Bruce Foxton, the sound affects album was played to death in my house when i was 15. Maybe Pretty Green or Start.
16. I Just realised with all this talk of George Harrison, and our BC member Bluejay. Mr H actually wrote a song called Bluejay Way. ......! I,ll let myself out!
17. I got a solid silver one as a christmas pressie last year, with my name ingraved on it, however, as soon as I tried to play all the strings snapped!!
18. I was sat behind ian Brown on a flight from Edinburgh to London when my mate churped up quite loudly "Ere Paul, look, its Noel Gallegher!" If l could have seen his face! funnily enough, he got quite touchy when the stewardess asked him to take his earphones off as we were landing!
19. I dont mind Guigsy as a bass player, he played what was needed on all Oasis tracks. If I was asked to come up with what Noel wanted, I would have played the same thing he played.
20. Why all the fawning? Guy Pratts on here, and no one bats an eyelid
21.
i normally get ernie ball strings in that gauge. the only gay thing about nickel strings is they really dont last that long but i personally think they sound much nicer.
And they are kinder on the frets than stainless steel strings. more info here.. http://www.bass-stri...ss-string-guide
22. Currently in bed with flu, hope I feel better by Saturday!
