1. I just play the main guitar riff on the bass, that fills it out a bit more than Bills original line.
2. Cheers guys!, now if I can remember where I left my soldering iron!
3. I have ordered a set of Seymour Duncan SPB1 pickups for my Squier P Bass as the originals are a bit bit thin sounding. Would upgrading to 500K pots improve the sound too? Its a nice looking bass which i,m fond of, so am looking to upgrade it.
4. Bad Company - Feel Like Making Love, I love the way Boz Burrell never plays the same pattern twice, just a variation of it. Queen - Fat Bottom Girls (In dropped D) John Deacon, first proper song of his I,ve played! (apart from the awful CLTCL) which i dont count.
5. I recently ordered a Seymour Duncan SPB 1 pickup for my Squier. I was looking at a Wizard Thumper or a quarter pounder, but I wanted an old school vintage sound, and these came highly recommended.
6. I started off on bass and progressed to guitar. It made paying the bass much more of an eye opener for me, the way the chords and scales worked together and wasnt just following the chords playing root notes all the time.
7. Im going by tube, no parking worries, no con charge and no breathalyser test
8. What P Bass pickups are they? I,m guessing they are probably a Squier or something?
9. I spent a whole afternoon perfecting the bassline to 'The Seeker' by The Who, only to find that the drummer was playing something completely different to the original version, when I asked him he said it wasnt important to play it to the record. This caused a complete racket as the bass and drums clashed, so I had to play 4 to the bar instead. So the moral is, if you have to play it note for note, make sure your drummer does too!
10.
Well for me it has to be Cookes Traditional Pie & Mash, just up near Shepherds Bush Green.
As seen in the film 'Quadraphenia' now sadly due to be knocked down to make way for a block of flats apparently!
11. Boody hell! I didnt realise it was that serious!! - I wont be doing that again!!
12. I always to to play it as G7sus4, amazing, you live and learn!
13. We played in a sports club over the weekend for a birthday party, and when I stepped up to the mike, I really got a belt as my lips touched it! All the other mikes where live too!, strangely enough, the bass strings and all other metal things were ok! had to spend the rest of the evening singing about 6" from the mike!!
14.
Yes, it's a well known mistake.
So it is well I never! http://www.guitargeek.com/chat/now-playing-35/mistakes-made-album-18825/
15. Well its all hyperdermic now, as the drummers just called to say he cant make it tonight!
16.
The entry for Steppenwolf in The Great Rock Discography amused me: "they continued to inflict their tired biker rock on audiences into the 90s"
I.ll just play it straight, the other verses are all ok, so whos to know?
17. Be confident, nervous body language is easily picked up, where as confidence oozes
18. Been running through the bass part for this song for tonights rehearsal, and noticed a discrepency in the repeat of the first verse after the organ solo where the bassist seems to miss the G where the singer goes "Yea darling gonna make it happen!" is it just me?
19. I always get Stuart at Peter Cooks in Hanwell to look after all my guitars. Nice friendly, honest chap.
20. I found the Bass Gallery a bit of a walk from camden town station, wear yer comfy shoes!
21.
My favorite JJ moment was finding Rattus Norvegicus in the summer of '77. I was 12 years old, and it was the first album that spoke to me. He set the course for me wanting to play bass, taking it from the background and into a virtuoso instrument. Not just the music, but also the cover.. He was all I wanted to look like too
The bass guitar intro to Princess of the streets got me into the bass. And Peaches, Oh sh*t! there goes the charabanc! classic
22. I almost failed to turn up for rehearsal many years ago. I dislocated my kneecap while at work and was transported to hospital in an ambulance. I completely forgot about that evenings rehearsal and neglected to inform the band till I got a call from the singer who on hearing off my accident, promply dispatched the drummer in his car to come and collect me. That was a fun ride to the studio with my plastered leg sticking out of the passenger window of his Opal Manta!
23. I was reading a book on The Beatles recording their first album at Abbey Road studios. They played live in the studio which was in fact their live set, complete with fully worked out endings. Nearly all the songs were faded out for record release, apart from I saw here standing there and twist and shout which had full endings.
24.

I know where I would stick that!!
