All The Beatles multitracks and masters were digitally copied in the 1990's for safekeeping, and the original 1960's tapes are stored in a secure vault at Abbey Road.
The recent White Album and Sgt Pepper 50th Anniversary editions were taken from the original analogue tapes not the digital copies.
I too was put off by the Fort Knox security intimidating door buzzer at the Bass Gallery.
I went there once and found the staff a bit touchy.
All the music shops in my area have all closed down so I cant browse them anymore.
Everything I have bought in the last ten years has been online after heavily researching what I was interested in.

I would probably drill a couple of neat holes using the pickguard as a template, rather than gouge the wood by forcing the screws in If you are worried about resale value.
