The recent posts on Relic Guitars had a picture of Rory Gallaghers' Strat. That got me digging my 'Rory Gallagher at the BBC' CD's out.
This Is a great moment from the OGWT.
I think Carol mainly played what was written by the arranger. I dont think she made her own lines up.
Although she did suggest the parts in Wichita Lineman and The Beat Goes On.
The bass work and sound on A Day In The Life nearly caused me to soil myself when I first heard it. However, by the time he got to Something, it sounded to me like he was just showing off.
There were some early Squiers that were marketed as a premium guitar. I believe they were badged as Squire 'Silver Series' and were made in Japan.
I had a S S Precision circa 1989/90 and it was terrible. The neck pocket was way too big and the neck creaked when I tried to tighten it.
These were the precursers to the Classic Vibe models.
I have been using my Beatles Revolver guitar strap for the best part of 8 years. It sadly died a death at the last band practice when the leather round the strap hole gave out.
I would get another but the price seems to have rocketed. ๐ซ

I quite like the subtle relic - ing on the Nate Mendel.
I,m having my own Limelight built which will only have light damage.
(And a faded minty green pick guard.) ๐
I picked up a Yamaha BB 5 string on here back in the summer. I wanted to try it out on our set to see how it sounded. We mainly play classic rock covers which were all originally done on a 4, so the low B doesn't get a lot of use.
In fact, I have recently gone back to a P Bass again.
John Lennon used some odd timings in some of his songs.
Dont Let Me Down has a 5/4 for half a verse into a 4/4,
And Good Morning, Good Morning is all over the place with some beauties including 5/4, 3/4 and 4/4.
Good luck trying to dance to it! ๐

Seymour Duncan SPB1. I have this pup on two of my Precisions. I prefer the vintage sound of these over the standard Fender pup.

That reminds me of an odd song called Fish heads. No Idea who it was by though.
On second thoughts I must have imagined it. ๐
Was tort an option on these basses back in the 60's? I have seen a few minty faded green ones online.
