  1. Will The medium gauge Warwick reds fit a standard 4 in line Fender headstock?
  2. I remember him from Gillan. He once appeared on TOTP playing bass with his left hand upside down! 😊
  3. Been exchanging a few emails with Mark about building a bass for me. I have always wanted a sonic blue P bass circa 1964. However, due to the cost of a few thousand pounds, this is not going to happen. I will not play a vintage Fender down the Dog and Duck to be covered in beer by pissheads. So I am commissioning Mark to build me a replica of this beauty. I am looking at a 12 week turnaround. Ooh I cant wait! 😊
  4. Guitar data dates it to 1964. https://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx
  5. Schools Out - Alice Cooper. Some of the bass work is quite tricky. Not the notes but the timing.
  6. I,m a big fan of the Phil Spector sound. Especially the girl groups of the early 60's. Great, powerful sound. "Little symphonies for the kids!" he called them. Before he was banged up.
  7. I cant see any over 65's digging this er' 'Interesting Music' 💩
  8. I bought a pair on here a couple of weeks ago for about that price. I swear by them. Be careful though, The pictures dont show the quarter inch adapter to plug in the bass. Without this, they are just an ordinary pair of headphones.
  9. John Lennon had one on the famous Rooftop Gig in January 1969, where during "Don't Let Me Down" (his own song!) he completely forgets the words and instead sings something like "And no reelesa godyebloog jegoobmy". You can see Ringo cracking up at this.
  10. I am after a 1963 Sonic Blue P Bass. Not to heavily reliced with a faded almost mint green pickguard. Yes, an AVRI lookalike. Something like this. I have emailed Mark and he can do exactly what I,m looking for in about 12 weeks for a lot cheaper than I imagined.
  11. Thank God for that! I though I was due for a visit to Specsavers!! 🤣
  12. Whats the average waiting time to have your own bass built to your own specs?
  13. I always leave feedback for everyone, although not everyone leaves feedback in return, I still think its a nice thing to do.
  14. I love to to play with others. Even if its only a rehearsal I still get a kick out of it. If I'm dossing about at home then I get my acoustic guitar and strum on that. unless I really need to work a bass part out I seldom play the bass at home.
  15. This happened to me recently at a gig! 😢 We do Lenny Kravitz 'Go My Way' and if you know the song you will know there is a little bass lick before the guitar solo. Mind blank Cue complete silence from the bassist who pretended to fiddle with his guitar lead and eventually came back in. 😂
  16. I would love a 1964 YOB Precision. Especially one in the same nick as therealting's beauty. But I couldnt justify spending all that money on something I would never take to gigs. My band play mainly pub gigs at the Dog And Duck etc. I have a nice MIM P Standard and a bitsa which I could (sort of) afford to have beer thrown over it.
  17. Joining a Shadows tribute band not an option then? 🤣
  18. Jennings himself was the bass player in Buddy Holly's band. He gave up his seat on the plane exactly 60 years and three days ago. 😞
  19. Actually he said "Needle And Pins" It climbed to 197 in the Herne Bay top 200 🤣
  20. Isnt there two Searchers doing the rounds? I remember reading there was a disagreement over the name, so it got a bit silly.
  21. Rip It Up - Little Richard and countless others. Rip It Up - Orange Juice
  22. Oh I didnt know that! Am I in trouble?? 😢😫
  23. https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/22-items-wanted-no-trades/
  24. I do agree about They Shall Not Grow Old. He worked wonders with that 100 year old grainy WW1 footage. It will sell though. Anything Beatles related usually sells.
