1. I use Ernie Ball Reg Slinkies. I like the heavier G string. (.50 I believe it is)
2. I have the Nate Mendel P bass. Not because I am a fan of his. Its just a great bass which I like the look and the playability of. But that is the limit of my foray into signature instruments. I did like the look of the Sting bass until I saw that stupid 12th fret inlay.
3. Yes. I have one. I have had my guitar tech modify the preamp so its not as hot. Sounds great.
4. Having been oohing and ahing about getting my self a compressor, I have got myself one of these little beauties. Apparently its idiot proof so thats me sorted. It has an overdrive built in as well. At only £37.00 I,m not expecting a lot but, I'll give it a go. http://www.kennysmusic.co.uk/xvive-b1-bass-squeezer-bass-compressor-pedal?source=googleps&gclid=Cj0KEQjw-ezKBRCGwqyK0rHzmvkBEiQAu-_-LOI_cF7aOygt5VIpu_J_CT0Tt_9orbNn6p9upOadat8aAk518P8HAQ
5. The Theme from Taggart. Maggie Bell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTSOx_xrXYw
6. The Manic Street Preachers did a great version of the theme from M*A*S*H. Carol Kaye played on the original TV Show theme. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y11f8Oc25AI
7. Congratubassions. Incidentally, I also got married at Ealing Town Hall registry office a few years back.
8. I have an Indonesian made CMD 121 with the extension cab and they are deffo top quality.
9. Anyone use a compressor? I am thinking about getting one to give a tighter, punchier sound but I haven't used one before. Anyone got any tips or are they just a bit of a waste of money?
10. The keyboard player has missed a few cues and come in late a few times. Still, this is live music, if you want perfection listen to the records.
11. Bought some Fender straps and straplocks from David, Top seller will use again.
12. Anything by Status Quo is good. Caroline is a well known number. We also do Blockbuster by Sweet, very simple and great crowd pleaser. Highway To Hell Ac/DC also simple and effective.
13. I dabbled a bit with flats a while back. The band I,m in plays some trebley, pick powered Thin Lizzy type stuff, and some old school thump like Free and early Purple. I could not get a set of flats to replicate the twangy stuff accurately enough. I now roll the tone off and stick a bit of sponge under the bridge if I want the flats type thump on my Ernie Ball regular slinkies.
14. I got to the bit about gay priests before I gave up.
15.
I thought they were more out Acton way (I lived in Acton and worked in the Bush/White City for years)
He went to the same school as my wife. It was called Acton County when John was there. When my wife went, the name was changed to Reynolds High School. It is now called Acton High School.
16. This any help? https://www.bigbasstabs.com/blues_brothers_bass_tabs/she_caught_the_katy.html
17.
Stretching the definition of punk a little but ... The Jam, bruce foxton is a standout player.
Oh yes. Check out the albums Sound Affects and Setting Sons for some Foxton plectrum powered bass pleasure.
18. Another vote for the D5. I have a rather weak voice, but the D5 has a nice deep sound to it, which fills it out a bit. But the SM 58 doesn't seem to give me that.
19. Some bloke tried to talk to me while I was singing and got the right hump when I didn't answer him.
20. The girl who plays sax in The Zutons is quite cute.
21. I was at The Royal Albert Hall last night as the much loved and respected Bootleg Beatles with the Liverpool Philharmonic performed the whole album live from start to finish, 50 years to the day it came out. Standout moments for me were She's Leaving Home, and the 'George Harrison' performing Within You Without You on Sitar with a tabla player. Bloody brilliant night. http://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/music/812076/The-Beatles-Stg-Peppers-Lonely-Hearts-Club-Band-Royal-Albert-Hall-tribute-band
22. Bernard Purdie? Was he the drummer who swears blind that it was him not Ringo on all The Beatles recordings??
23.
It's just that I struggle to think of this as a 1958 Fender Precision ...
He's got a picture of it! - What more do you want!!
24. I bought an Epiphone Thunderbird Pro IV on a whim a few years back. The one with the USA pick ups. I had to buy a special gigbag to put it in as standard shaped ones would not fit. I gigged it a few times but found the neck a bit to narrow for my liking. It had quite a nice tone but like Roger2611 ^ I also sold it after a few months and went back to a P Bass.
