Played a pub in West Drayton near Heathrow Airport for the first time. After the first number there was complete silence followed by a solitary voice yelling "Turn the juke box back on!"

I am a shift worker, but as long as I am given a few weeks notice I can juggle things around so as can do the gig. Last minute gigs are a no go.

I would say the 2 tone music of the late seventies and early eighties. Madness were a great influence. Later, the plectrum powered basslines of Bruce Foxton became the main reason I picked up the bass.

Why is it that when a guitarist asks you if he can have a go on your bass, they always try to play a solo up at the 12th fret, get bored and hand it back saying the neck is too wide??

I had my P Bass leaning on the sofa when I had someone round to service the washing machine. "Is that the Nate Mendel" he said and went to pick it up. I told him not to touch it as I had just reset the neck, and was letting it settle. He soon got the message.

I was in a band in the mid to late 80's (The one in my avatar) put together by a friend of mine who thought he was Paul Weller. He was so far up his own arse, good guitarist and keyboardist but couldnt sing for toffee. Finally got the sack after a gig at The Mean Fiddler for wearing a Fleetwood Mac T shirt on stage much to his horror!

We tried a new set featuring Songs by Royal Blood and other up to date less cheesy stuff. Song finished to complete silence. "Play something we know!" Yelled some wag from the crowd. Cue Sex On Fire and the floor is packed again. You have to give them what they want, and that unfortunately, is cheesy rock covers.
