1. The was a band in the late 80's called The Adventures. They had a couple of hits and an album but they soon faded. I saw them supporting Fleetwood Mac doing a great cover of John Lennons; instant Karma.
2. I dont clean my strings. I always wipe them (and the bass) down after playing. But I change all the strings on my basses every 3 months whether they need it or not. I do use Ernie Ball Regular Slinkies however, and they are not too expensive.
3.
Another one bites the dust..... Queen
The Hot Space album is a shift towards disco pop. Apparently, Brian May hated it.
4.
There is a gentle sarcasm in the thread title. Her playing is awful. I don't expect anyone to play bass covers note by note,I'm not perfect either, but this is just too bad.
Constantine Islamow showed a bit of respect on her playing. Why cant you?
5. Another vote for the Nate Mendel. I have one, and even Scott uses one for his online lessons. https://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-nate-mendel-p-bass-candy-apple-red/75186?gclid=Cj0KEQjww7zHBRCToPSj_c_WjZIBEiQAj8il5PXz07D-4awGKnP1m72bmiF_RnKLp9x-Rlm6N6LY9BkaAmRf8P8HAQ
6. New and unused pack of La Bellas. This was originally a 5 string set but I cant find the B. 45 65 85 105. I bought these a while back for a recording session which never came off. Bump for price drop of £30
7. Yes its gear snobbery. I,m afraid I'm guilty of this, as I have an old Korean Squier with a Fender logo. Although, in my defence it was on it when I bought it.
8. Been asked to do this as a request for the landlord at our local pub. Its funny, although I have never played it, I always imagined the bass line was the same as Jean Genie and was quite busy. Having listened to it for the first time in 20 odd years it is a very sparse line. Funny how your mind remembers things int it? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNXFtVWB47E
9.
Thanks Dandelion, Yes, I usually go by that rule, but today we played ‘Stand by Me’ by John Lennon, and the first chord is G, so I assumed G, (which worked fine for the most part) but it is actually in Em - meaning my ‘root’ should have been on the E instead of the G - no big deal, but it just took me by surprise when I later looked it up…
It is in G so the relative minor is Em. The same notes occur in each scale.
10.
on Please Please Me (the song) in the stereo version Paul starts singing the last verse wrong, but on the Mono version it's correct so they must have used different takes, but the story goes they could only get one run through of Twist and Shout because John's voice had about had it, so I'm confused, unless they used the single recording of Please Please Me on the mono LP, perhaps some Beatles expert could enlighten me, definitely Mono and Stereo (of sorts) though, Edit, mono sounds the best though (IMO)
The stereo mix was an edit of takes 16, 17 and 18, and contains a vocal error in the final verse, causing Lennon to sing "come on" with a slight laugh. The mix also has a slightly different guitar line by Harrison prior to the final verse. Read about it on here... https://www.beatlesbible.com/songs/please-please-me/
11. They are at it again. http://wogew.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/sgt-pepper-anniversary-edition-revealed.html
12. Grant bought my Limelight P Bass. A smooth and hassle free transaction and a jolly nice bloke to boot!
13. "Their logic ties me up and rapes me" Well you cant argue with that!
14. Look at his little sad face Buy him now and put a smile on his little truss rod.
15.
Uh.. this is a 1.75" nut and slim neck profile, right?
It's 44mm at the nut. The neck is quite chunky so if you're a jazz bass lover then this is not for you 🎸
16.
Lovely! Is there a hard case or gig bag included?
Ah! Yes I knew I had forgot something Yes It comes with a nice padded TGI gigbag.
