1. An interesting read. Apologies if this has been posted before. http://mikemillsfan.com/dossier-mills/interviews-mike-mills-trims-the-fat/
2. I used to play in a classic rock band and was told by the singer that my trusty Fender Precision was not "Rock and Roll' enough, and to get a Gibson TBird. I no longer play for that band.
3.
transmitter which goes into my right front pants pocket. Blue
You have a pocket in your pants? Wow! they think of everything in the US!
4. I replaced the Quarter Pounder that came as standard on my Nate Mendel with the more vintage sounding SPB-1. It really depends on what sort of sound you're after.
5. In my rock covers band, I generally only use a pick if the original song was played with a pick. We do some Thin Lizzy and Stuff by the Jam. Both noted for powerful plectrum powered basslines. I have always switched seamlessly between fingers and a pick. I must be quite lucky as its easy for me to do this.
6. Bassist. It must be the correct terminology...... Theres a magazine name after it!
7.
Currently £55 - went through a phase of being consider great VFM here - issues with soft frets? http://www.ebay.co.u...s0AAOSwa~BYaYB7
Yes. Basschatters were buying them up by the dozen about 5 years ago IIRC. So much so, they ran out of stock at one point. They were good VFM though. Yes the soft frets wore out quickly.
8. The mains power lead plug on my Markbass CMD combo is in a right difficult place. upside down on the upper rear of the unit. I look like a contortionist trying to plug the bloody thing in.
9.
If Johnny Cash can use one they must be acceptable.
Good. I'll dig mine out of my uncles loft then.
10.
Ouch, tough crowd! stingrayPete1977, maybe I should hire you as my agent!
Well done Pete! You've upset him now!!
11. I dont like jazz either. However, I do like Moondance. Apparently Johnny hates it too!
12. I always Jet was a Precision player.
13. Anyone know if Bill Puplett in Harrow is still there??
14. After gigs we tell the punters its £5 to buy one of our CD's or a tenner to shake our hands. Strangely enough, we dont sell many CD's.
15. And this is why single men have more basses.
16.
I believe Gregory had some skin surgery so wore the hat, only for it to become a bit of a trademark and then stuck with it.
A bit like Dr Hooks' eye patch.
17. Wasnt Chas the bassist on the early Joe Meek singles?
18. Beatles - Hey Bulldog. Not one of their most well known songs, but a cracking bassline.
19. The pentatonic scale is your friend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CbWotxP8JA
20. Hard pushed to find the best bass playing I ever heard, but Macca's playing on this still gives me goosebumps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usNsCeOV4GM
21. The Selector - The Selector. Actually it was on the flipside of the first 2 Tone single - Gangsters by The Specials.
22. What a great bassline on London Calling. I have just had a re listen to that song after quite a few years. What a great way of linking the Em and F chords by that chromatic run. Simenon hadnt been playing that long either.
23. Another Stingray fancier here. Even though the sound is not what I want I'm after, I still love the look of them. I went out and got a lovely black and maple SUB to quench my urge but that still sits in its gig bag.
24. She must be in her 80's now. Nice to see her and Petula Clark are still rocking.
25.
There better not be any more of those really irritating moving ones
Like the dancing spiderman?
