1.
The guitarist in my last band had a knock-off RB 6-string. He changed the pickups and you couldn't tell the difference between that and the real thing. Why are the originals £1500? Because people don't know any better.
Also, probably the reason why companies like Limelight can put out a pukka looking and sounding vintage bass for a fraction of a genuine USA one. It looks the part and sounds the part and every ones a winner!
 2. I was asked to dep in a Country/Irish band a few years ago. I got bored shitless Root/Fiffing - so I gave it a bit of welly and was told off for overplaying and ruining the feel of the song. Once I reverted back, they were happy as Larry.
 3.
Really? I would say the opposite. I rarely play a fender style bass, but when I do it is easier because of the number of frets than playing on a normal 24 fret bass as the 17th / 19th are sort of in the middle of the top part, rather than the last dots! I used to mess it up all the time switching basses.
Yes, but I've only got short arms.
 4. I prefer the earlier quirkier stuff with Syd Barrett to the bloated pomp rock of the 70,s. Mind you, I dont mind The Division Bell.
 5.
What a pathetically horrible quote. Whoever came up with that idiotic saying doesn't deserve to call themselves a musician.
http://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/theres-no-money-above-the-fifth-fret.460836/
 6.
I use all the frets on all the strings. It's what they are there for.
Theres no money above the 5th fret!
 7. Sydney who? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTRHUY-PsXE
 8. I seldom go beyond the A on the 14th fret of the G. There is a little lick on 'Life In The Fast Lane' that is played up there, but the most difficult one for me is the classic bass part from 'Alright Now' which is a bugger to play on a Fender Precision, So I cheat on that and drop it an octave.
 9.
Great stuff. There's nothing electrical attached to the underside of the guard?
Maybe some shielding. Shouldnt be a problem.
 10. Definitely black. Its the law you know, like tort guards on sunburst P basses.
 11.
Yes, that George Martin was a legend.
Heres a song from his solo album
 12. How much is it? I cant see a price?
 13. The bass intro to Princess of The Streets is a work of art.
 14.
Unless you're talking about the original Boroadcaster/Tele, Leo pinched it off Bigsby & just simplified it a bit: As far as different designs go, I like the old Yamaha SB/SG and their variations & derivatives. Elegant & functional, to my eyes - if I was designing a 4-inline I'd rip that off.
I didnt know that! - I thought Fenders' design was an original idea based on the treble clef.
 15. If there was no Oasis, there would be no Beatles!
 16. I audition for a band a few years back. I thought it went alright. It turned out I did not get it because although I was no better than the other guy, he could sing.
 17. I prefer the later stuff from 1966 onwards. Macca's bass work really blossomed after that. I remember hearing 'Rain' for the first time, I had never heard the bass played so high up the neck, it was an epiphany for me.
 18.
Not too shabby either, she knows more notes than Clayton
Naughty
 19. His first album recorded live at Abbey Road (Before it was famous) features some great live warts and all British Rock N Roll. And he was only 18 years old. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4-T7AJHge4
 20. Well, I never knew that! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tod8tO9E9I8
 21.
Again, issues with 'low post count newbies' allowed on the For Sale section
Newbies selling top boutique basses for four figure sums - with 0 posts on the forum always gets me to scroll through the for sale section with a sigh.
 22.
he did the work without consulting you first. You have no obligations
+1 Tell him to go take a running jump.
 23.

Was the buyer a well established basschatter, or a fly by night chancer newbie? In which case 'Caveat Emptor'
24. The song. Unless its built around a bass riff. Money, 7 Nation Army, Hey Bulldog etc.
 25. Seems to have been corrected now. Still, I wouldn't bother, apparently it 'does need tuned'.
