1. That looks like the same seller who is selling this. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/292032-minty-66-dot-n-bound-jazzbeautiful/page__fromsearch__1
2.
Didn't he play on Wyatt's version of Shipbuilding?
Yes. Quote from Wiki Costello had produced what he described as "the best lyrics I've ever written".[sup][1][/sup] In a 1983 interview with NME, Mark Bedford of Madness, who played stand-up double bass on the single, recounted the history of the song:
3. His playing on the One Step Beyond album inspired me to pick up the bass.
4. Thats great! What year/model is it based on? I know you said 1962 but I assumed it was a typo.
5. I had a Thunderbird I bought on a whim. Didnt like the narrow nut width so I moved it on and went back to my trusty Fender Precision.
6. John Entwhistle. A lot of people think the sun shined out of his arse, but I am not a fan of his clanky twang.
7. I have a pair of these https://www.gak.co.uk/en/vox-amphones-bass-active-bass-guitar-headphones/74158?gclid=Cj0KEQjw9b6-BRCq7YP34tvW_uUBEiQAkK3svcrAciVhPsYA3dZLRPPrqioTQKYPInZK-3jrWiMFdqoaAiI28P8HAQ I plug my ipod through it and its great. Also eliminates the need for a jack lead for me to trip over.
8. I started on bass and picked up the guitar about 8 years later. Hearing how the major and minor chords worked together made me appreciate how bass lines were constructed. Still prefer the bass though.
9. The Chain - Fleetwood Mac One Of These Nights - The Eagles
10. I spent my 50th on a beach in Pafos, Cyprus. I had already planned not to be working or gigging or even in the country on that day.
11. P Bass into Markbass CMD 121 with a New York 12" ext cab
12. The late 70's for me. JJ Burnel and Bruce Foxton with their plectrum powered, almost lead basslines to the fore. No more bass is easy to play and anyone can do it. Right up there in the mix showcasing the power of the bass.
13. The Specials first album was played to death when I was 16
14. There was a topic on here a while back about basschatters buying on here for a good price and then moving them on for a profit. Got rather heated IIRC
15. No. All my basses are strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinkies. When I buy new or second hand, the original strings come off. Doubly quick if they are flatwounds.
16.
Would it cost £400 for a set of "quater" pounders?
Its all down to the mass you see.
17.
Truss rod adjustment at the headstock?
Ah, I didnt see that due to the crap photo. Disregard my previous post.
18. The only times I get anxious pre-gig is when there are very few people in the crowd. Playing to an empty pub really brings me down.
19. Looks like a very overpriced and badly photographed Nate Mendel (Which is in fact, based on his 1971 Precision)
20. I have never actually broken a string by playing. I have, on occasions had a roundwound string winding unravel on me, where it has been sitting over the bridge saddle.
21. My missus thinks I,m being ripped off paying £1000 plus for a bass guitar. "Theres one in Argos for only a hundred quid" She quoth.
22. I always take a backup bass to a gig. Seldom needed to use it, but it saved me once when one of the tuners snapped on me. I play a P bass so I always take another P bass as a spare. It can take a while to adjust to the neck profile and nut width from say for example the Nate Mendel to the Limelight 63 though.
