1. How would you transfer a personalised plate to another vehicle? - Sounds like there could be a lot of long winded paperwork involved.
2. Along with the "Why are you not playing?" in the verses of Alright Now. Guitarists think the bass and guitar always have to do same things.
3.
This one ???
I would be nervous of taking that Buzzard out to a gig, for the fear of taking someones eye out! http://www.thewho.net/whotabs/gear/bass/bass8602.html
4. Hasn't someone on here got an original and unmolested 1951 Fender Precision? Must be worth a few quid?
5. This sort of thing is why I got a Limelight. I would never dream of gigging something like that down the Dog And Duck.
6. Limelight use a Sprague cap in their vintage relic basses. I personally havent noticed much difference soundwise. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/sprague-orange-drop-capacitors-worth-it.465558/
7. Funny you should say that. I have just had a look at my right index and middle fingers, and there are a few white flecks.
8. I think Scott has the right approach in his learning by ear lesson. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMM7G5PXCvw
9.
The most replaceable bass player in music
TBH I dont think I could do his job night after night.
10. None of us in our band use music stands apart from the singer who had an accident years ago which affected his memory.
11. Theres actually one for sale on this very forum! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/287157-limelight-1970s-precision-rosie-black-maple/page__pid__3086528#entry3086528
12.
It's one of two MIJ 50s reissue Fender P Basses I own. They're from the early 2000s. I just started gigging with it again recently. Real thin jazz bass type neck. A real fun bass to play with round wounds.I took the black pick guard off. Bought the 2 used for a grand with hard shell cases. Blue
Looks nice without the scratchplate.
13.
When I was learning bass guitar back in the mid 60s we had to move the needle back and fourth on 45 rpm vinyl to learn songs. Indeed it was frustrating and hard. Blue
I read somewhere, (Could have been Mo Fosters book) that in the 60,s and 70,s people used to play their records at 78rpm. Apparently that used to make the bass easier to pick out in the mix when played at a faster speed.
14.
Three blind mice?
Is also the intro to Atomic by Blondie.
15. Is the strap very thick? I have a really chunky 3" leather strap and it happens to me a lot with that particular strap. Less so with thinner ones.
16. Yes they are are bloody dazzling. I once got the venue to move them before we went on stage.
17.
I sell a lot of stuff on gumtree. This is a scam, avoid. I get a lot if messages like How much is the last price of your goods", always dodgy. They work of scripts and never refer to your item by name. It's always "I am interested in your musical instrument" Or "interested in your music item". They pay by PayPal then use several methods to claim their money back once they have the item.
Yes. I had an ipad on Gumtree and got the same email. I called their bluff about my 'item' and told them yes that would be fine, howver, one of the wheels has fallen off. This did not deter them. They still wanted it!
18. Sat down to watch ZZ Top on the iplayer last night. Turned it off after 15 mins. Bored shitless.
19.
I bet you don't kiss on the lips either Blue..........
He is not married.
20. About 30 years back, In my early 20,s, I got fired from my first band for wearing a Fleetwood Mac Tango In The Night T shirt on stage. Not the sort of image my arty bandmates approved of. I was told the band had folded, but discovered they had regrouped with the singers mate on bass.
21. I had to learn the bass solo in Nivram when I was depping for a sixties band. It was quite a challenge.
22.
I have, on more than one occasion, been described as "The best bass player I've ever played with". This was, in every occasion, said by the worst musicians I've ever played with.
Yes, Me too! - By a guitarist. Although to be fair he isnt the worst musician.
23. The Nate Mendel P Bass is a cracker! - Even Scott uses one for his bass lessons.
24. We were the first band on a charity gig. As we were packing up to let the next band on, Their bassist came up to me and said "Some nice bass playing there mate!" I felt a bit awkward and embarrassed and muttered something about the onstage sound being crap and not being able to hear myself. He must have though to himself ' What a w***er!'
25. Our drummer was 2 hours late for rehearsal this evening.
