1. Thats the problem. Even with the gain really low, hardly even moved above the off position, it still clips.
2. Took my Sterling SUB Ray to rehearsal tonight and I noticed that whenever I boosted the tone controls on the bass, the input gain blue light was constantly flashing with a nasty distorted digital sound. When they were moved back to the centre flat position it was not as bad. I never had this my passive Fender P. I suppose my Markbass is not active friendly.
3. I was fired by a band about 15 years ago because of alleged lack of commitment. I was (still am) a shift worker, but managed to work around my shifts to accommodate gigs if I had a few weeks notice so i could get someone to cover. Then they started to want to do Sunday lunchtimes and i told them I wouldn't always be available. Ho hum.
4. I have had the strap come undone on numerous occasions. Once when I was singing the lead vocals and had to quickly grab the bass to stop it from hitting the deck, while keeping the vocals going. As expected, there was a great clunk! as I grabbed it and as there was now no bass in the music it sounded awful. I now use the Fender straplocks on all my basses, and I can now use any strap with any bass. You may get the same protection with a bottle washer, but I would recommend using some sort of straplock.
5.
It didn't seem strange at the time ... (... and still doesn't..! ) Go easy, though, folks, these are my pals, although I've not seen 'em for several decades, now. We're dealing with archaeology, here. My favourite style, for instance, is Norse; just wait until it comes back into fashion. I'll be right up there at the pinnacle of 'in-ness'..!
The bloke on the far left looks like that chap from Focus with the high squeaky voice.
6. Ive got a Behringer Ultra Chorus UC200. Only £20, and does what it says on the tin.
7.
Denmark Street?
Bit of a shithole these days, but Wunjo;s bass store is well worth a visit.
8.
put it in the title!
Ooh! - Dont make him come round there!
9. Also the nice Sterling SUB Ray I got recently.
10.
What is this 'pick' thing of which you speak?
11. Have a read through this. It may help. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/204518-help-my-bass-wont-stay-in-tune/
12. When I first started playing, I was listening to a lot of The Jam and The Stranglers and wanted to emulate that plectrum powered sound. I was also into 2 Tone which featured a mix of Ska, Reggae and punk which was played fingerstyle. Here I am 35 years later, and I can seamlessly switch between pick (Plectrum) and fingers. I still cant slap though!
13. Wunjo's would be my choice. Top knowledgeable staff and nice guys to boot. You may end up with a couple of freebies thrown in.
14. No. I am not 'picking it to bits' just concentrating on the bass part which I had never paid attention to before. In fact I,m not a big Rod fan. It just seems a bit thrown together. It may not be a whopping clanger, but it sticks out like a sore thumb now I know its there.
15. We have been asked to do dear old Rods top hit for a friends birthday party next month. I must say, I am not a fan of the bass part. (Ronnie Lane?) It seems to be aimless noodling around a D major pentatonic with a whopping clanger at 2.47 But it may be part of the song. Hey ho.
16. I use the CMD121P + NY121P for bigger and outside gigs. On this gig last summer, the sound guy loved it.
17. I left one band as they were utterly dreadful! The singer/Guitarist couldnt tune his guitar or change a string. The drummer was so bad, he would do a fill and come back on the offbeat completely throwing the beat from Om Pah to Pah Om. I told him to stop f***ing around but it turned out he wasnt! I told them I got a job doing permanant nights and could not play any more.
18.
Just get a Zoom B1on, headphone out, aux in and multi effects all for £40 - really useful little thing
+1 Theres one for sale on here for £35
19. Yes. I have an old 1991 Korean Squier P bass. It has a beautiful neck. I have 'bitsa'd' it with an SPB1 pup and a tort guard and a Fender decal. The neck has also been aged to give it a vintage look. It plays and sounds fantastic.
20.
Quite a few other posts have mentioned Fenders, and a few other makes of different types of gear too. I'm not quite sure what your point is, you seem to be angry about something.
Tis true. The word Fender was mentioned in posts 1, 4 and 5
21. Must be this one.
