1.
Awesome so is the Classic Pro considered the better of the options? Or does it depend onw hat your using it for? Is £350 about the right price to pay for a used one? I can buy a classic pro from GAK for £379.
I believe this one comes with a fitted case/gigbag. Because of the angular shape, most gigbags wont fit a TBird. You could try to haggle.
2. The Pro IV has the thru neck and the USA pickups. Nice example of a used one here. http://www.chandlerguitars.co.uk/product_Detail.php?ItemID=5847 I,m not aware of a 5 string version.
3. The Beatles - Glass Onion has them referencing their own songs. 'I told you 'bout Strawberry Fields' 'Lady Madonna tryin' to make ends meet' 'I told you 'bout the fool on the hill'
4. Used it for rehearsal. Really powerful pickup!
5. That'll put the price of Nate Mendel P basses up!
6. Very handy if your on a boat and need a paddle!
7. Well, I picked it up today and am quite impressed. Although its only a backup bass it may get more outings than I intended. The bass is heavier than I remembered, although it is a basswood body. Everything is a lot better than some of the budget basses. Tuners are well made and hold the tuning spot on. Pickups are punchy and the 2 EQ boost/cut controls are acceptable but not up to the original USA Ray. The neck is 38mm at the nut.
8. 'Caught by the fuzz, while I was still on the buzz!' What a great lyric.
9. Here's one from NYE just gone. Having thought we had finished for the night, I turned of the amp and started to unstrap the bass when the others lurched in to 'I Predict A Riot'. Having got the amp back on again quick, I couldnt find my pick so had to play with fingers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPdjy5eFG_g
10.
If I play an A minor, and use all of the natural notes, I am also playing the notes for a C major. When does it become a mode, as I think I understand that a mode is a scale just starting on a different note, but keeping within the notes of the scale. So if I start a G Major, but start it from F#. Am I playing a mode?
No I dont think so. Starting from G would make it a Mixolydian. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mode_%28music%29#Ionian_.28I.29
11.
Are there any female bass players on this forum, other than Sylvia of course? It seems to be very much a male domain!
I think one of the ladies on here plays in a Pink Floyd tribute band.
12.
Lennon said The Beatles are more popular than Jesus to an English journalist and was reported as such in England, never caused a mumour (and he was probably right as well) then it got reprinted in the USA and all hell broke loose, because some our transatlantic cousins are a tad excitable about that sort of thing, the Beatles are still more popular than Jesus, based on how long and numerous Beatles threads are on Basschat anyway
Heres a bit more on the subject. 14. I dont really regret selling anything. They are all just tools to enable me to do my job. Apart from a 1974 Jazz which I sold for peanuts in 1995 before the internet told me what they are now worth!
15.
Do these have rolled fingerboard edges like the Fender Roadworn series?
No.
16. Esmeralda? Yolanda?
17. There was a seller recently, trying to sell an expensive bass with no pictures and a poor description. When someone offered some advice, they got really arsey about it!
18. Nobody cares in my band unless I drop a major clunker. They always leave me to get on with it. 'Yea he's great' they quoth in a disinterested attitude.
19. USA P bass - My main bass Nate Mendel - Back up bass Squier P bitsa - Back up to the back up Incoming Sterling SUB Stingray - ??? Oh dear.
20.
Hang on chaps, where are the pics?!?!
Picking it up next week hence the NBD incoming bit. A nice piccy from the interweb.
21. Indeed. The strings given and fitted free really is great service.
22. NBD incoming. Wunjos' have done me a deal on an SUB Stingray in Black and Maple. I wanted the stock strings replaced and fitted with Ernie Ball regular slinkies, a gig bag and a complete setup for only £299. I'm a happy Hobbayne.
23.
Excuse my ignorance. What's a B Neck?
A-1 1/2 in. B- 1 5/8 in. C- 1 3/4 in. Width at nut
24. A few years back, I was busy lugging my heavy old Trace combo from gig to gig, an acquaintance of mine told me he was thinking of trying out this new amp by someone called Mark Bass. Never heard of him I said. It will never catch on.....
