1.
Very prescient of you guys to foretell NYE 2016 but I get the drift.
Oh! I never noticed the OP is a year ahead of the rest of us. But I have only just woken up.
2. Thanks for all the comments. I have ordered myself a cheap Behringer pedal to see if I like the overdriven sound. If not then its no great shakes at that price.
3. If they are still reasonably playable I give em away free to anyone who sends me a stamped addressed envelope. New strings are expensive, and many folk cant afford them if they are unemployed etc, they have better things to spend their money on.
4. Strange experience today. Played an afternoon pub gig with my classic rock covers band which went rather well. Until I was approached by a man in the toilets Turns out he was the bass player with another classic rock band who came along to listen. Basically, he told me that my bass sound was sh*t and I should use an overdrive on the bass guitar albeit subtely. I dont really use effects apart from a chorus pedal and dont see the point of having the bass overdriven when we have two guitars fighting it out for supremacy. I had my Nate Mendel Precision into a Markbass CMD 121 with a NY 121 ext cab. What do you guys think? Maybe some overdrive for classic rock bass?
5. Paperback Writer and Get Back by The Beatles have only 2 chords.

7. I ordered a gigbag from Thomann but Parcelfarce went and lost it.
8. RIP John Bradbury from The Specials. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35194738?SThisFB
9.
Thanks R.I.P. I noticed that the limiter on my amp comes on even at low volume to kill the distortion. I'm guessing that this is an effect of the hot preamp.
You are better keeping the controls on the bass flat till you get used to it.
10. If you can manage to scrape together a few more quid, these are excellent. 11. Bugger. He only had his birthday on Christmas eve.
12. My band have recently covered The Zutons original version of Valerie, and although the bassline is quite simple - its fun to lock in and groove with the drummer.
13. I never heard this before, and stumbled across it by accident. But wow! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FiQnrRT16s
14. You could try sending a PM to MB1 or Rich. These are the basses for sale moderators, although I suppose any mod will do.
15. I was brought up in the 70's to an alcoholic father and a mentally unstable mother. Eventually my Grandparents legally adopted us kids. I left school at 15 with no qualifications and no trade, drifting from unskilled job to unskilled job, getting my girlfriend pregnant and ending up in a B&B waiting for a council flat. I applied for a job with the then, London Transport as a Guard on the tube trains in late 1988, and am now one of Londons most hated. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/general-election-2015/politics-blog/11729222/I-pointed-out-how-much-tube-drivers-earn.-Some-people-werent-happy.html Even this year, i was thinking about getting a new USA Fender Precision, but still felt a pang of guilt even though I could now afford it. And a nice house and car. I suppose you never really lose your roots.
16. Bloody Hell! Wheres my wallet? I may get this after I have helped that nice Nigerian man who wants my help to access his 5 million quid which is currently trapped in European banks due to civil war!
17. I use a Markbass cmd 121 and the New york ext speaker in my loud rock band. Very light and portable with a lot of power.
18. Why is is talking about the price of the bass in dollars? He is British doing a British bass course. I know these are watched worldwide, but why do we need to know what it costs in the states?
19. Glad to hear it. But the fort knox security still puts me off. I prefer to walk in and trundle round these shops at my leisure.
20. Crazy Little thing Called Love by Queen. I used to love that little run down when everything stops dead and the bass is the only instrument playing. I always thought it was just a regular guitar. A few months later I heard Pretty Green by The Jam and I had to do a bit of research on this low guitar.
21. Email them. When this happened to me they sent me a couple of free sets.
22. I,m hopeful it wasnt Wunjo's in Denmark St. They are highly praised on here for their friendly staff and top notch customer service.
23. Poor old Phil Spector spends his time sewing maibags nowadays. But you must agree that this is a classic.
