1. I never heard this before, and stumbled across it by accident. But wow! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FiQnrRT16s
2. You could try sending a PM to MB1 or Rich. These are the basses for sale moderators, although I suppose any mod will do.
3. I was brought up in the 70's to an alcoholic father and a mentally unstable mother. Eventually my Grandparents legally adopted us kids. I left school at 15 with no qualifications and no trade, drifting from unskilled job to unskilled job, getting my girlfriend pregnant and ending up in a B&B waiting for a council flat. I applied for a job with the then, London Transport as a Guard on the tube trains in late 1988, and am now one of Londons most hated. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/general-election-2015/politics-blog/11729222/I-pointed-out-how-much-tube-drivers-earn.-Some-people-werent-happy.html Even this year, i was thinking about getting a new USA Fender Precision, but still felt a pang of guilt even though I could now afford it. And a nice house and car. I suppose you never really lose your roots.
4. Bloody Hell! Wheres my wallet? I may get this after I have helped that nice Nigerian man who wants my help to access his 5 million quid which is currently trapped in European banks due to civil war!
5. I use a Markbass cmd 121 and the New york ext speaker in my loud rock band. Very light and portable with a lot of power.
6. Why is is talking about the price of the bass in dollars? He is British doing a British bass course. I know these are watched worldwide, but why do we need to know what it costs in the states?
7. Glad to hear it. But the fort knox security still puts me off. I prefer to walk in and trundle round these shops at my leisure.
8. Crazy Little thing Called Love by Queen. I used to love that little run down when everything stops dead and the bass is the only instrument playing. I always thought it was just a regular guitar. A few months later I heard Pretty Green by The Jam and I had to do a bit of research on this low guitar.
9. Email them. When this happened to me they sent me a couple of free sets.
10. I,m hopeful it wasnt Wunjo's in Denmark St. They are highly praised on here for their friendly staff and top notch customer service.
11. Poor old Phil Spector spends his time sewing maibags nowadays. But you must agree that this is a classic.
12. JJ Burnell N W Roy Bruce Foxton Bruce Thomas Nigel Harrison Horace Panter
13. I have one of those. Great mike.
14. There are quite a few intros on just the bass alone. Electric or otherwise. This classic Stranglers tune is my personal favourite. Post yours. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER41WqmdzH8
15. I learned a lot of stuff from SBL without enrolling. Some really neat tips and tricks which I pinched from his youtube page.
16. The Beatles win hands down on this. From the early stuff like This Boy and Here There and Everywhere to the later stuff like Because and You never Give me your Money, the harmonies send a shiver down the spine.
17.
Everything Blue
Indeed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2H8ph_FnTE
18. The Jam, Butterfly collector.
19. He is the reason I picked up the bass. Him and Bruce Foxton.
20. San Luis Obisbo California IIRC
21. I think Blue has mentioned before that he plays bass for a living. I dont think there was any malice intended in his question. Anyhow, I am quite happy to gig once a month. That is enough for me. Music is a hobby, I have a good job and lovely wife and home, and sometimes I prefer to stay in and enjoy them.
22.
Has written one of the most recognised basslines in history and I bet 95% of the population wouldn't even recognise his name... Happy Birthday...
I was going to post that one, but its towards the end and assumed that most people who dont know the slow bit would get bored and turn it off before the best bit.
23. I,m sure all of our Basschatters would like to wish John a happy 70th birthday today. Even more so, after his recent cancer scare. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ul-cZyuYq4
