1.
I have to side with Funky Dunky here; I only made it halfway through her performance. Interesting bass though!
Me too. I was waiting for the hook, but their wasnt one.
2. I have a little tin in the kitchen which I keep pound coins and Jim Dunlop 1mm picks in. i grab a handful before a rehearsal or a gig and stuff them in my back pocket. However, I have to be quick because we start with a song i do fingerstyle which segues into a Thin Lizzy number which requires a pick. I have about 2 seconds to reach in my pocket and grab one before it starts.
3.
Whooooaahh - that's uncanny!
Not really, It was the Mathew Street festival.
4. A few years ago, I saw the Bootleg Beatles in Liverpool. They were terrific. They got all the stage routine down to a tee with Georges nervous mutterings in the mike to Ringos rockIng from side to side head movements. They did an autobiographical show featuring the early Please Please Me stuff through to the Abbey Road era complete with costume changes and beards. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zHFhuN1clQ
5. My Nate mendel I got last month. It has now become my main go to bass. All the bumps and dings are meant to be there, honest!
6. One wobbly note at 0.57 Bloody fast fingers though!
7. They were all the rage on here a couple of years ago, until someone discovered that the fretwire was as soft as butter and wore out in no time at all.
8.
Paul says, "Argh! F***ing hell!". Pretty funny every time I hear it on the radio.
Apparently they bounced the backing vocals and guitars on the same track and couldnt seperate them. They didnt bother to redo it as you couldnt really hear it on your 1960s Dansette. However, with the remastered version on CD it sticks out like a sore thumb!!
9. Lilly Allen Its not fair Oh I lie here in the wet patch In the middle of the bed I'm feeling pretty damn hard done by I spent ages giving head
10. Nearly fell off my chair! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OlH7OFZpx8
11. Does the bassist lack the ability? Cant keep time? Did they leave any major flaws on a recorded work? I must admit that John Lennons attempt at bass on The Long & Winding road was a bit of a flaw. But he was not a bassist and it was buried in the mix anyway.
12. Yep, The same here, both exactly the same weight.
13. Is Johnny Rotten turning into Timothy Lumsden?
14. Slow news day? https://uk.news.yahoo.com/unlucky-love-20st-student-sheds-113943528.html#Vaw5Qbv
15.
The drummer in Squeeze is Simon Hanson. Originally from Lincolnshire, he and I played in a band together in 1979? called Delusion. He was 16 and I was 18. Since then he has gone on to make his living from session work etc. I on the the other hand haven't!! Paddy.
Crikey! Theres a claim to fame, Thanks mate.
16.
Yes D Baker was on Friday, a bit pissed. I like the comedy and the theme, best tune Squeeze have done for ages (though they haven't formally released an album under that name for ages anyway )
Their original drummer Gibson Lavis? Is now Jools own drummer. The new drummer is good though, although I must think it must have been quite a frosty show.
17.
I think it's a slab body but I'm not one hundred percent on it! It's a looker for sure though, now how do I embed images?
Sorted.
18. Is that a slab body or is it an optical illusion??
19. He ripped that solo off of me! Thats exactly the same solo I got when I chucked my bass down the stairs!
20.
In both cases, you are working for someone else .... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sideman https://en.wikipedia...ki/Pickup_group
http://www.amazon.co.uk/A-Sidemans-Journey-Voormann-Friends/dp/B0028RFC2O/ref=ntt_mus_ep_dpi_1 Klaus Voormann is the man.
21. It definitely needs a clean though. And that neck is not original either.
22. Amazing what you can do with only two chords innit??
23. Have you ever heard the version from the Concert For Bangladesh? - Klaus Voormann does a great job with it although he simplified the A minor twiddley bit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ei6VyjlgxZU
24. Medium high action using the slightly heavier Ernie ball Regular Slinky's (50-105). My style of playing varies between playing with a pick and fingerstyle depending on the song, But I am heavy handed and a too low action doesnt work for me.
