1. After years of trampling on my leads and ripping my jack sockets out, I am thinking of going the wireless route. Are there good and bad systems out there? I dont want anything cheap and nasty that picks up Radio 2 and local mini cabs.
2.
Well your thread convinced me to buy one too and I also have a CMD121 so you better be right!! If I don't sound like you or Nate then it's going straight back! On a side note, the prices of these have just received a hefty hike on a lot of the major sites.
Yes, Mine was about £749 from Wunjos in London. But they took a Sub Sterling in part ex and threw in a set of strings of my choice (Ernie Ball Regular Slinkies) Which I will put on this weekend as i dont like the feel of the stock Fender strings. A gig bag and some bottle top straplocks. So I only paid about £500
3. Used it last night at rehearsal and was very pleased with the overall sound and feel of it. I didnt really notice that much extra sustain generated by the Hi Mass bridge, although the Quarterpounder pickup had my Markbass 121 rattling around the floor like a demented spin dyer. It comes with schaller straplocks (Or Similar) fitted as standard, so I only had to use my strap to clip on. For some reason our guitarist thought the back of the headstock was actually signed by Nate Mendell personally. However, When we rehearsed Times Like These, It still sounded like me
4. I recently have incorporated a few of Bruces little licks and plectrum powered bass lines in my style of playing. Its made such a difference to my own feel of the bass.
5.
VMAs? Vacuous Music Awards?
I had to google that.
6. I dont mind playing them. Although SWA bores me rigid, the punters love them.
7. The only thing you will really have to worry about is sore fingers. The tips will have softened and you will probably have to dab some surgical spirit on them for a week or two.
8.
I think the perceived arrogance is that you think anyone not born in the 60s hasn't had an equally important and influential exposure to music. I was born at the tail end of The Beatles and grew up in the 70s/80s and 90s. When there were huge changes in music. I started playing in the mid 80s and 30 years later I'm still playing. The guys in my band are of a similar age and have similar experiences. To claim we don't have a musical passion or a heritage because we weren't alive in the 60s is nonsense.
+1 I was born in the 60's but I still enjoy listening to Buddy Holly and a lot of stuff from the 50's. Because I wasnt there to appreciate it first time around does that mean that I have less right to enjoy it than someone who remembers it when it was new??
9. Ooh thats lovely! But who would buy that? A collector to hang on a wall? I couldnt justify that sort of money to buy that and gig it down the Red Lion on a Friday night!
10.
I think you need to find something else to be angry about
And One Direction have split!!
11. Another backing vox here. Although I do however, sing the occasional lead, I have to strip the bass part down to the bare bones.
12. It has always bothered me why Capitol Records in the USA put 'RECORDED IN ENGLAND' on Beatles singles. I know that the Americans had better recording techniques than backward Britain, but surely does it really matter where it was recorded? The Stones recorded a lot of stuff in the US in the 60's, but it never had RECORDED IN THE USA on the label!!
13. The very simple but very famous bass line in 'Radar Love' is also up there, but the unison guitar/bass middle 8 is not compulsary.

Amazon

Miltys' string site gives basschatters a discount.
15. Also there is the Sterling sub 5 string.
16. These sort of things are really down to personal taste. Where as a P Bass or similar would gain a bit more interest.
17.
Old brown Shoe (The Beatles)...had to cover it once and I had a really hard time
Apparently, Thats George Harrison on bass. http://www.beatlesbible.com/songs/old-brown-shoe/
18. I,m from West London too! - Whereabouts? - I may pop round for a cup of tea as I've run out of milk.
19. Is that John Bonham and Meg White??
20.
Hello!!! With a slight note of disappointment that there's nothing in your post about actually eating pies while playing, as promised by the title. Rick Wakeman once ate a curry on stage, you know...
I once tried to eat a packet of dry roasted peanuts during a gig once. It was a futile task, as most of them rolled off under the drummers stool.
21.
Can you delete this thread please mods? I've found what I was looking for. Thanks.
U2 couldnt!!!
22. Bernard Butler thought he was the bees knees, and too good for the band. He formed his own band McAlmont and Butler Remember them?? Nor do I.
