Watched this on the BBC iPlayer last night. A great interview with Andy Rourke about Morrisey and Andy Summers about Sting. About what an arsehole he was!

I had that feeling with a Thunderbird bass. After a while it became used less and less in favour ot the P bass.

I once got a complement from the bassist of the next band on a festival. "Nice bass playing mate" he quoth. I just stared at my shoes and mumbled something about the onstage sound being crap. He must have thought I was a right arsehole!

I have 2 Precisions - A US standard 2008 model in Arctic White and a Bitsa Squier P (In my sig pic) With a S D SPB1 Pup and a narrower Jazz neck, which is my go to bass. My first P was a 1984 JV Squier in Fiesta red which I had resprayed C A R. I have dabbled with Stingrays and Thunder birds, but always gravitate back to a P bass as I have Comfy Slipper Syndrome too.

I bought one of these the other day. My old one only worked out of one headphone after I sat on it. The old one lasted me a few years so I hope this will too. I quite like the useful (but limited) drum machine on it.

I have to buy one because I have lost some of my original ones over the years. I am sure I read somewhere that they have to be 13amp. Is that correct? I need to use on a Markbass combo.

I believe he took over from the guy who electrocuted himself. Cant remember his name but he replaced Jet Harris I understand.

Dee Dee Ramone? He used to play with a P bass hanging down by his ankles. If that aint bad technique i dunno what is!

LBC radio's late night phone in show keeps me amused in the wee small hours.

We doing this song called Jambalaya or something. It alternated between C and G and bored me rigid. I tried to spice it up a bit by using chromatic fills and pushing and pulling the beat. The singer glared at me and shouted "Play It Straight!" I never got asked back.

I recently changed from Ernie Ball super slinkys to regular slinkys and noted a marked improvement in tone , playability and fret buzz. The neck did need a tweak though, but it wasnt a problem.

I remember reading about the basschatter who strung along a scammer who wanted money paid into a bank account abroad somewhere. The scammer didnt have a clue he was being strung along. It made hilarious reading

We are on the lookout for a studio to lay a few demos down. I dont want to go for the first place we see, but then again I dont want to get it done on the cheap. Then I got this email from the drummer! [i]Finding the right person to record the band is hard, we need someone who is into the music we play to be able to get the best out of it. No point picking someone who has been doing it for 40 years and they only like Jazz etc. We need someone who is into classic rock and not some long haired hippy!!![/i] What does everyone think?

Probably ebay or get a store to sell it on your behalf. If its what I think it is, then you cant sell it on here.

We done a gig where we was the first band on on. The bassist of the next band came up to me and commented that there was some nice bass playing going on and I was a good player. This embarrassed me somewhat and I muttered something about the onstage sound being terrible and I couldnt hear a thing up there. He must have thought to himself: "What an arsehole"
