1. Oh yes, the super cool Jet Harris with the first Fender Bass in the UK I believe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzgbcyfJgfQ
2. The fast bit sounds a bit like the bassline from The Beatles And Your Bird Can Sing. I guess its probably just C to G via E F AND F sharp
3. Ah! Gain and blue light, I think I have just solved it!......
4. Just got one of these this morning and had a fiddle with it. It does seem a bit distorted at low levels, but it hasnt come with a user guide and a google search doesnt come up with much. Anyone got any tips on how to a get a great sound out of this?
5.
Did you get the vibe of what happened 50 years ago? I would like to go, but no idea if you get the sense of what happened. I don`t believe you need to be around at the time to get the feeling of the place, but if all the history has gone, it will be hard to get any sense of what happened. It could be true, as i wasn`t born in the late 1800`s. I went to Tombstone a few years ago, and it was hard to feel any vibe there. I couldn`t really imagine Wyatt Earp strolling around the place. Seemed like a theme place more than anything
I had an amazing sense of the vibe of the place when I visited the Beatles former recording studios, Abbey Road last year. As soon as I walked up the steps into the reception I got the powerful vibe of its long musical history. Having said that, The studio that they used - (No. 2 studio) was a lot smaller than I imagined it would be. I had always envisioned an enormous room in the pictures I had seen of it.
6. Unfortunately, he run out of Beatles songs to rehash. Look Back In Anger being an amalgam of Norweigian Wood and Imagine.
7.
Bass Gallery in Camden is the bass place to visit in London.
I believe that irritable Alex has left to do the knowledge. It might be safe to go back in there again!

9. Im not joking. Those albums were realesed in the UK as 'With the Beatles' and 'Hard days Night'. It seems they were re packaged for the USA market
10.
Yeah, and for me and others a lot of it was timing. I think I was 9 or 10 years old when my Dad purchased "Meet The Beatles" & "Something New" for me. Which was amazing because he was WW II vet and a big *swing band guy.
I have never heard of those albums? They are not on this list either. Are they bootlegs? http://www.dmbeatles.com/discography.php?category=1
11.
What are you unsure about exactly? and what is the point in going to Liverpool - It's 2015! Will they still get the Beatles in Liverpool?
Calm down, calm down!!!
12. i bought a P bass brand new circa 1995 with that case. It wasnt very good and cracked with the slightest knock! (The case I mean, not the bass!)
13.
Yep!
Have you heard the Louis Johnson version? I think its on Broad street
14. 'Everybodys got something to hide except for me and my monkey' from the White Album has a nice bassline that grooves along. There is also a nice little bass break which I have repeatedly ripped off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCE0z4V3USQ
15. I did post this sad news a few weeks back but must have slipped through the net. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/255299-buddy-hollys-bassist-dies-at-74/page__fromsearch__1
16.
Mike Mills is the bassist and I really liked his playing style - much more melodic than the material would suggest.
He also plays the keyboards quite well too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKDzQid-FqM
17. Andy Rourke in The Smiths. Great bassist, but their music and Morriseys whining voice bores me rigid.
18.
Like our sausage fingers friend?
I do miss him
19.
He called his kid North, ferchrissake!
North West?? I,m going down the pub!!
20.
Well, Harrison maybe gets credit for about ten maximum. Are you saying there are more?
I dont know exactly, although I believe he played on She said, she said after Macca walked out in a huff!. http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/what-beatles-songs-did-george-harrison-play-bass-on.184632/
21. We have Rory Gallagher to thank for all this!!
22. i think Grandad means that what He ended up playing was not exactly the same as a Maccas original line. BTW did you know that George Harrison played a lot of the basslines too, but remained uncredited??
